Backstage Beauty: B. Michael

SHOW: B. Michael
HAIR: Oscar Blandi
MODEL: Mary
THE LOOK: For the B. Michael show, Oscar Blandi created "multicultural" masterpieces that incorporated styles from many different cultures—
Asian, European, African, you name it. He wanted hairstyles that were exotic, almost fantasy-like, much like Michaels' silk chiffon cocktail dresses and embroidered strapless gowns. But be it tightly-wound curls or a sleek, sweeping up-do, Blandi made sure of one thing: No humdrum straight styles here. "Each look is very fresh," he said. "I added a lot of texture to the hair, and shine, to keep it looking clean and classic." For the shiny ringlets at right, for example, Blandi's protein mist and oil spray were the beauty vices at play. He sprayed strands with the soy and wheat protein-infused spray before curlingit seals the cuticle, protecting it from heat damageand then spritzed finished curls with shine spray to keep them looking shiny and frizz-free on the catwalk.
