Cory Kennedy: Urban Decay's Spring Model

Snaps to Cory Kennedy for becoming a star the good old-fashioned way. If you're not familiar with Cory, she falls under the It Girl umbrella as an indie fashionista, blogger, and model. The hipster muse was first discovered by party photog The Cobrasnake a couple years ago and has since secured a wildly large following online and in print (with no nudie leaks to report—bravo!). Seriously: This teen idol is an organically grown wonder—and Urban Decay has picked her for their spring campaign. Not one to shy away from bold makeup, Cory embodies the Urban edge to a beaut-T. I recently chatted with her about her gig as UD's resident glam girl for spring…

Mari: So, Urban Decay says, "We heart Cory." What do you "heart" about Urban Decay?
Cory: I love the edge Urban Decay has, within the name itself, their packaging, and, of course, the makeup. I love their bold color palettes.
M: As an UD girl, what's your edge?
C: I guess my edge would be just truly being myself and not affected by what people think or say of me...and just continuing to be genuine.
M: Tell me about your spring photo shoot with Urban. Where was it?
C: At a studio in Hollywood.
M: What was your favorite part?
C: Just the whole crew was awesome to work with.
M: Any good stories? Tell!
C: Good stories, hmmm. Well, I can definitely say the 24/7 Glide-On Pencil is hard to get off!
M: Your skin looks flawless in the shots. What's your skincare regimen?
C: I moisturize my face every time I wash it. That's pretty much it!
M: On a similar note, what's your daily makeup routine?
C: It depends what I'm doing that day, but on average, I use some foundation, a beige eye shadow, a lot of mascara, blush, and finishing mist.
M: And what about at night? What's your approach to makeup when going out?
C: It really depends on my mood! If I'm in a fun mood, I always want to experiment with colors on my eyes and try very runway-esque ideas.
M: Eyes or lips—which do you like to play up more?
C: Eyes, definitely!
M: Complete the sentence: You can never have too many _______ in your makeup bag.
C: Mascara.
M: You've inspired many people over the past couple of years. What inspires you?
C: My inspiration really starts with my comfortability and how I feel, but I find inspiration in traveling, music, and the 20's, 30's and 40's periods, too.
M: Any beauty inspirations?
C: I love the eyes you see on the runway. Otherwise, I just pretty much keep it classic.
M: Thanks, Cory!

We're already loading our lids with the new Loose Pigments, à la Cory, stage left. Stay tuned for videos of her photo shoot and interview with Urban Decay co-founder Wende Zomnir. In the meantime, check out the makeover we just did with Urban Decay for a similar look. —Mari Tzikas, Sephora
