Opening Party: Amazing Cosmetics thestudio

Incredible. Phenomenal. Ohso lovely. And above all: amazing. Such was the launch of Amazing Cosmetics’ first store, called thestudio, in Libertyville, IL, a suburb of Chicago. The brand, (who makes our favorite concealor, ever) is coveted by makeup artists, celebrities, and beauty addicts alike for their covers-EVERYTHING Concealer, shine-free Velvet Mineral Powder Foundation, and invisible Setting Powder. Despite the large crowd (literati and Liberati alike) and endless supply of champagne, we managed to sneak in a quick Q and A with A-list guest/celeb designer Matt Lorenz, the man responsible for creating Amazing’s interior. “I wanted the space to resemble a back yard,” Lorenz shared. And what a job he did. Between giant cherry blossoms in rose-tinted water, mirrored walls, grass-paneled floors, and painted planters, you’d swear you were at a garden party -- a garden party with top-of-the-line products, jewelry, accessories, and personalized makeup application by a team of experts. As the disco music bumped and ladies who lunch stood in line to be beautified, Lisa Thurman and Sue Katz (co-founders and longtime friends) glowed.
