Introducing our brand new weekly feature: Product Patrol. At Sephora, so many new brands and beauty products launch every week we can barely keep track of them all. To the rescue: Our copy editor Jennifer, who sees EVERY single product before it launches. She’ll be rounding up our 5 most exciting rookies of the week, i.e. the newest, hot-off-the-press beauty that’ll help you stay on top of the trends—and feed your beauty addiction.
THIS WEEK'S TOP 5:
Korres: The world of Korres (the lusciously natural brand from Athens, Greece) keeps growing and growing. Haircare now carries natural mane menders like almond protein leave-in conditioner and juniper and olive tree shampoo while Yuca Soft Shine Wax and Bamboo Styling Cream polish off your coif. Skincare adds facial soaps to the lineup with two, skin-type specific bars tucked in a travel-friendly container. Body Water’s light aroma makes it easy to refresh at your desk and Body Milk will provide long-lasting moisture to your skin. Also on deck: shower gels, body scrubs, and our personal obsession, liquid hand soap!
Mystic Tan Perfect Tan Kit – Face & Body: With shorts and skirts lurking around the corner, we know those pasty poles have been haunting you lately. Lauded as the innovator of the spray tan, (and a new addition to the Sephora fam!), Mystic Tan delivers sunkissed skin with the Perfect Tan Kit, for both the Face and Body. Built-in technology creates a seamless blend of color (no infamous streaks!) and the kits also provide potions to maintain color and give that extra-golden glow. An instant fave of Sephora staffers, it’s a perfect tan—without the appointment.
Smashbox Single Eye Shadow: Smashbox reformulated their eyeshadow collection and now their vivid pigments go on smoother and last longer. The 32 improved shades are formulated to layer, line, smudge, shade, and contour for endless looks. We fancy the Cinnamon Toast and Cabernet, what about you?
Sephora Brand Makeup Show! Make-Up Palette: This compact holds powder, blush, eyeshadows, lip gloss, and mascara in stackable, sliding trays for easy access. The palette can fit in your purse and has a selection of applicators and a mirror for trouble-free application—a must-have for makeup mavens and girls on-the-go.
Tocca Candele da Viaggio: This Sephora-exclusive Tocca Candele De Viaggio boxed set features four travel-size candles: Stella (sweet blood orange), Yma (guava and citrus), Tahiti (tiare flower and coconut), and Isabella (fresh watermelon). Each candle smells amazing and their small size makes them both precious and portable.

Plastic Surgeon Goes Green for Skin With Launch of New Organoderm Skin Care Product Line
NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - Organoderm Skin Care is launched by highly acclaimed plastic surgeon Dr. Edward Domanskis in Newport Beach, CA. "I am excited to introduce my natural organic skin care products. They purposely contain fewer but more concentrated effective active ingredients in elegant formulations," said Dr. Domanskis.
Organoderm contains certified organic ingredients and natural botanical actives to help repair damaged skin and keep it healthy no matter what age. "As a plastic surgeon, I couldn't accept traditional skin care with its synthetics and chemicals," continued Dr. Domanskis.
Organoderm products display the USDA logo, certified as containing at least 95% organic ingredients, or the prestigious Circle of Green certification or both. This assures the consumer that chemicals like 1,4-Dioxane are not found in any of the products. This earth friendly natural skin care product line boasts of eliminating wasteful exterior packaging and cartons. Instead, all feature fully recyclable green conscious packaging. Each of the regimens' products is oversized. Not only do the larger dimensions add value, but help build an awareness of the need to reduce the number of containers cluttering the environment.
Dr. Domanskis points out that Organoderm skin care also introduces a unique online recycling program for all product purchases. Prices for Organoderm range from $12 to $42, with a portion of sales donated to breast cancer research.
"The time couldn't be better for launching a product line of this type," says Dr. Domanskis. "Currently, the skin care industry is experiencing phenomenal growth." Packagedfacts.com, a division of Market Research Group, which provides essential insights on consumer markets, projects annual revenues of skin care products to reach $7.2 billion in the U.S. alone by 2010.
A major contributor to this boom is organic skin care products. Cosmeticsdesign.com reports that this sector is expected to hit $10 billion in international sales by the end of this decade. Even during periods of economic downturn, skin care products invariably hold their own according to research provided by Referenceforbusiness.com. Therefore, the current recession is not expected to have a serious impact on sales. People simply want to look their best, even if the economy does not.
