A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose

I visited London this past week and discovered—along with insane prices, the Tower, a Gwyneth sighting, and gap minding—that roses are on the rise. Though it is the national floral emblem of England, and a fragrance classic since Grecian times, it’s definitely making a sweet-smelling resurgence this season in the UK. From creams, perfumes, and makeup shades (displayed on beauty counters everywhere) to a slight infusion in my tea, biscuits, and tikka masala (which was delicious, by the way), it seemed like everything was coming up roses. Returning from London town, I have a newfound appreciation for this timeless flower and the endless, creative ways it can be used to enhance just about everything.—Jennifer Appenrodt
