In need of some collagen support? In Japan, you can simply slurp some soup, pop a chewy candy, or down a drink. Collagen is a big pop word here, and products marketed to help build it are everywhere - from convenience stores to beauty shops. The collage soup to the left was snapped in a convenience store, where they were serving it hot, for about $2.50 per bowl. I've been eating the collagen candy up top since I got here. The jury is out on whether I've seen any effects on my skin, but it does make a great snack. It's like a Starburst, but--since it's preventing wrinkles while subsiding my sweet tooth--totally guilt-free. Cough, rationalization, cough.

I doubt the FDA allows foods like these to make skincare claims.
