Yes, really. One of the hottest hair trends here on the young hip gals (which would be literally every other person) are printed, puffy scrunchies, like those last seen in the US in the early 90's (and you thought mules were the only 90's-era must-have accessory of the season). The shops were teeming with them in tiny flower prints, stripes, and lots of kitchy stars. Other hot hair accessories included huge bows and detailed hats, all pictured here.

While there there is nothing as scary as a scrunchie, I guess it makes sense. Afterall, New Kids On The Block are getting back together.
Good point. 90210, too! It's like I'm reliving my childhood. 90201 was a fave show, and gulp, I hate to admit this, but NKOTB was my first concert. I remember crying when they took the stage. Shudder.
Just wanted to point out: the bows are actually only popular in the lolita fashion. Many western lolita have termed a lot of them as "head-eating bows" due to their giant size.
As Shouko said, the large bows are a staple of "Lolita" fashion.
