Now Entering: The Blue Period

I like to think that I'm a pretty happenin' chic-e-la. I pride myself on knowing the up-to-the-second-Perez-style status of all Hollywood baby bumps and sexuality scandals. And I think that I'm pretty on top of emerging markets, complex theories of so-called trickledown economics and the impending gasoline crisis in España, but for the life of me I simply can't keep up with the latest trends in nail polish colors.

Just as I was about to take a walk on the bright side, the fashion-forward stylies at Fashionista had to go and ruin my coming out party. These chippies have been spotting blue lacquer on trend setting ladies around NYC's most coolio neighborhoods.

Now please don't get all der-hickey Jenna, navy was the story last fall on me. Because there's a rub—the shade is more Robin Red-breast egg shell than all saturated, inky, deep-ocean (try Hard Candy Vintage Nail Polish in Frigid or Sephora Brand Lacquer Nail Polish in Blue Curacoa). So, I guess the question is: Should I skip the tropical punch at head right for the next emerging trend? And, thanks. -Jenna Mahoney
