Daily Candy's 2008 Best in Beauty Awards

The gals at Daily Candy published their Best in Beauty Awards today, and, lemme tell you, they've got a really good eye for unique beauty (no surprise there!). Their Sephora choices are all products we staffers love for their quality, efficacy, and, of course, the ga-ga-gorgeous end result. Here are Daily Candy's picks, and a little on why they (and we) love 'em.

Best Cover-up: Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation
DC: It can mask everything from a tacky tat to a pesky pimple.
B&TB: Exactly what they said. The genius of this compact foundation is it's amazing coverage. You can dot it on like a concealer, or use all over to cover acne and even birthmarks. And with 33 different shades, it's got every complexion covered.

Best Mascara: Fiberwig
DC: No clumping. No flaking. No smudging. No smearing. Leave it to the Japanese to create the best lash lengthener out there.
B&TB: You know how we're always lamenting (or I am, anyway), that the boys get the best lashes? Well, my cousin David has a fringe that seriously stops traffic. Mine? Not even a honk. This mascara is the closest I've come to scoring lashes as long, lush, and curly as his. Well, besides that time I *tried* to cut his off.

Best Lipgloss: Tarte Enbrightenment
DC: It does double duty as pucker polish and teeth whitener.
B&TB: Maureen Kelly and her smartypants team never cease to amaze us with their beauty innovations. Smile brightening gloss plus teeth whitener, all in a snappy little tube? Sistas, please. Not only is this gorg gloss (full review here!) good for you (as all their products are), but it's spliced with pigments that make your teeth look brighter.

Best Highlights Extender: Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze
DC: It brightens up hair color and brings on shine in between visits to the salon.
B&TB: This is seriously our new obsession. It's an at-home glaze that delivers the same super shiny results as the salon version, but with a mouthwatering lemony scent. We swear it makes our hair look a shade lighter...not to mention baby shiny, and miraculously frizz-free. The 3-5 minute treatment goes on after conditioner, and can be used every day. Well, I do, and it's constantly making me late for work. It's not my fault...it's Frederic's.

A little unorthodox, but I've been using Tarte 4-day Lash Stain under my FiberWig, all the while using the Peter Thomas Roth Lashes to Die For at night. It is a bit of a complicated cocktail for the sake of lashes but I'm a little obsessive.
