The School of Visual Effects: Makeup Class Is Now In Session

"I think makeup should be taught to women in high school. So many ladies have no idea what to do with color. They apply it wrong, or stick to the same three colors for their entire life."

I'd like to go to that school! I swore off H.S. the second I got far enough away from it to realize what a giant spiral-permed nerd I had been - meaning that I could have used a little less calculus and a lot more color theory. Give me a Blockbuster Palette over a No.2 pencil any day (and maybe if I got to write answers with a mascara wand, I'd have actually passed math).

There's no Nathan Johnson High School (yet - Nathan, don't give up the dream), but the Sephora site has something just as cool.

Visual Effects is a series of 9 videos that show you - in 3 easy steps - how to recreate magic makeup eye effects.

With 9 looks, Visual Effects covers eyeverything: no makeup makeup eyes, smokey eyes, and some looks that'll make you flip your lids (hint: glitter is involved).

I'll be first in line at freshman orientation when beauty becomes a compulsory course. Maybe on my second try, I'll get to be the trendsetter rather than the trendmesser. Which means I'll have awesome eye makeup - and a bitchin' spiral perm.

*The quote from Nathan Johnson was part of a larger (and definitely worth reading) interview on the Spoiled Pretty beauty blog. Take a peek!
