Being a brunette there are many things that I just accept as truisms. One is people assume I'm sma-tah than the average bear. Another is: At the beach, my head gets hooot. I'm talking temps through the roof hot, because my deeply dark locks attract and trap sunlight like nobody's business.
As a force of habit, I cover my head with a BoSox hat, a had-it-since college bandana or this camo ball cap I've been rockin' lately. These all come off, however when I go swimming, which in some part throws all that work out the window. I mean who doesn't know that the sun is stronger when you are in the water—it is all of that reflective power. So, my poor little locks get all sun stroked and limped out.
While lamenting this fact one day this past steamy weekend, someone told me about the Limited Edition Frédéric Fekkai Summer Hair Sunshine Shield Spray ($22), an aresol potion that literally coats the hair cuticle with some fancy-pants ingredients to combat the neg. effects of UV rays and other enviro. yuckies.
I gave myself an aura-building halo spray and yum-o! This stuff smells just like the old school tanning lotion oil our neighborhood MILF used the 80s. It is also lightweight and no sticky—a total plus when you are splashing around in the agua. And even though, my head didn't feel any cooler, temp-wise, my hair felt smoother and silkier than usual après swim. So this little number is being added to my surf essentials list.
