Tosca is a seasoned expert when it comes to all things beauty-related. I asked the makeup maven a few questions, and here, are her answers.
What does your beauty routine consist of on a daily and nightly basis?
I usually clean my face with Caudalie Cleansing Water followed by their Cleansing Mousse. Then I use my Caudalie ContourCream Eyes and Lips.
Where does the name Hourglass come from?
The founder, Carisa Janes, came up with the name Hourglass because it has a feminine, old-world mystique to it.
Tell us a fun fact about Hourglass?
Carisa (brand founder) is a die-hard animal lover who once owned a 300 lb pet pig named Pete!
If you were going to your own private island and could only take 2 products
with you, what would it be?
My Veil Primer with the SPF 15 in it and Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Reflect.
What is the most unique, unusual product your brand carries right now?
I would say our amazing Illume Cream to Powder Bronzer Duo. I'm addicted to it
and I think every woman needs one in her bag.
Do you have an anti-aging tip?
Yes! Ladies, PLEASE STOP pulling your eyes when you apply liner on the top
lid!! You are contributing to premature crows feet. Just gently lay your
hand above or to the side of the eye and apply the liner.

Hold up, I'm confused. She uses the cleansing water before the cleansing mousse even in the mornings? I've always been told to wash my face then use toner. Also doesn't she use any kind of moisturizer or serum before using the contour cream?
the cleansing water is also a cleanser, not a toner. in fact, i use it to remove makeup first then continue on with my cleansing/skin care regimen.
Wow cool! I'll have to pick some of that up when I go to Sephora on Monday!
love the caudalie products she uses. they rock! what sephora stores carry hourglass besides the website? i want to get my hands on their foundation.
I believe Hourglass is carried at all (if not most) Sephora locations - I will double check just to make sure. :) You HAVE to try their foundation...I started using it a couple months ago and my skin has never looked better. I also love their Solar Tan that just launched. It's a self-tanning primer that goes on silky smooth. Tosca swears by the cream to powder bronzer duo. I have not tried it but she says it's amaaazing!!
So Jennifer how well do you like the Solar Tan primer? Does it seem to work well for all skin tones? I've been dying to get it ever since I read about it on here, I just haven't had time to get to my local Sephora yet, but like I said above I'll finally be able to go on Monday.

Yes, Solar Tan works well with all skintones. A plant-derived active,DIHYDROXYACETONE, reacts with the chemistry of your skin (custom-made!) to temporarily darken its appearance. It's also oil-, fragrance-, and praraben-free.

Thanks! I got the Solar Tan yesterday. They didn't have it out with the Hourglass stuff, in fact they didn't even know what it was so they checked in the back and found it there thank goodness! Now all the girls working there want to try it too. I also picked up the Caudalie cleansing water, MD Skincare EZ4U 4-1 treatment, Stila cherry crush stain, Dior Skinflash radiance pen, Stella McCartney perfume, and some BE eye primer that I heard good things about. I'm dying to try it all out!
