When Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino complimented Betsy Olum on her sparkling pink eyeshadow, she retorted, "Thanks - it's yours, and you discontinued it."
Betsy, Sephora's Senior Vice President of Marketing, had been wearing the rosy-mauve hue called "Heiress" forever. And when she heard it was being phased out, she did what any girl with a fave does: "I bought as many as I could and started stockpiling!"
But snapping up makeup - and just about everything else - took a backseat in 2007 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As her friend, Jerrod was determined to get her through it with as much of her humor and sanity intact as possible. "He was such a good friend to me, and kept me laughing through the whole thing. His support meant the world to me," says Betsy.
It was Jerrod's idea to bring back Betsy's pink shadow. Renaming it Betsy Baby, he paired the sparkling shade with a toasted vanilla to create a shadow duo.
In honor of Betsy (and her recent cancer-free diagnosis...go Betsy!), the comeback shade raises money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. $9 from every sale of the $17 shadow duo goes straight to the charity.
Wanna get gorgeous for a good cause? This shadow duo in online now through the end of October (aka Breast Cancer Awareness Month), and will be available at Sephora stores starting September 15th.
