Spring 2009 Beauty Trends: Backstage at Diego Binetti

SHOW: Diego Binetti
MAKEUP: Katie Pellegrino for MAKE UP FOR EVER
MODEL: Loris for IMG
BEAUTY BOTTOM-LINE: Excessively dewy skin and coral lips & cheeks

THE LOOK: Diego Binetti’s spring collection was presented on Pier 66, and the models were prepped on the sometimes-swaying end of it. So it was especially fitting that the models’ skin looked a little wet. “We almost wanted it to look like they came right out of the sea,” says Katie Pellegrino, MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Senior Makeup Artist. The trick behind this was applying clear, silicone-based gloss on the lids, temples, brows, and cheekbones. Pink/orange lips made their way to the runway again in this show; this version is a combo of two candy-colored lipsticks, orange first, then hot pink. This kiss is on my list—for Spring 2009 beauty trends.

GET IT: MAKE UP FOR EVER Face & Body Liquid Makeup, HD Invisible Cover Foundation (as concealer), HD Microfinish Powder, Eyeshadow in Metallic Taupe 127 (eyes) and Orange Coral Matte 5 (cheeks), Smoky Lash Mascara, Lipstick in Fuchsia 414 and Nasturtium 405, and Super Lip Gloss in Clear 0 (around eye area).
