Spring 2009 Beauty Trends: Backstage at Chocheng

SHOW: Chocheng
MAKEUP: Lottie for Make Up For Ever
MODEL: Serena Hendrix, New York Models
THE LOOK: If makeup looks from Fashion Week won awards (like those in high school), this one would take home the top two: Most Popular (any skin tone can wear it) and Most Likely to Succeed (it’s easy to recreate, even if you’re not a professional makeup artist). The look was inspired by a “young Joan Crawford, but with a fresh modern twist,” explained key makeup artist Lottie.
To keep the look clean and youthful Lottie shared a few insider tricks:
1. Apply a peachy blush just above and just below the apples of the cheeks with a sweeping motion, rather than winding circles. “Sweep the brush in a sideways V-like movement,” advises Lottie.
2. To make eyes look really big, line the inner bottoms with white liner. Use a brown eye liner on both the top and bottom lash lines and then smoke it out with a softer brown shadow, so it's not so harsh or precise.
3. Curl lashes, then coat them with tons of mascara.
4. Keep lips simple, yet moist with your favorite balm.
