The Best Makeover EVER: Halloween Edition

Now that fall is here (and Halloween is coming!), it's the perf time for a makeover. That's exactly what our friend Jackie Lantern was looking for when she visited Sephora last week.

Jackie's always had a head for beauty, and she's not afraid to try new trends; in fact, she revamps her whole face every year. When we asked if we could try a few of fall's new looks on her, she flipped her lid. "Hey," she said, "my face is your canvas."

"OMG! I totally need a new look!"

FIRST we prepped her skin with Josie Maran Bare Naked Wipes, which she loved. "I'm half Organic on my mom's side, so sustainable products are really important to me."


Luminous skin is a big fall trend, so we balanced out Jackie's enviably smooth but rather orangeNARS The Multiple in Palm Beach. The gold hue really brought out the beta carotene in her skin, giving her that skintone with a touch of pure gold glimmer, highlighting her natural ridges with grown in direct sunlight-kissed glint.

THEN, using Anastasia's brow stencils, we gave her perfectly carved arches. Strong brows really define and shape a face, especially when you don't already have one.


NEXT, we chose a few shades from MAKE UP FOR EVER's Flash Color collection. Contouring can play a big role when you have no natural features, so we used Rust 7 and Copper 19 to play up her eyes. We gave her a pop of color with Bright Blue 14, then finished with a fringed & fabulous pair of MAKE UP FOR EVER's false eyelashes. "I'll def. wear these for Halloween!" she gushed.

FINALLY, dark lips are another key look for fall, so we lined her normally toothy, thin-lipped grin with pout-plumping Buxom Lips in Vanessa (root vegetables and girls alike are fans - Buxom Lips was just voted a Best Of Sephora winner).

Jackie's new favorite scent is Love from the Harajuku Lovers collection - "I'm so into Harajuku style. I'm dressing as Love for Halloween!" - so we finished the look with a quick spritz of scent.

The end result? "Love it! This is the first year my beauty routine won't involve inserting a burning candle into my face!"
