Melting Dresses: A Good Excuse To Buy The Fancy Underwear

It's a shame Alanis Morissette didn't include this in her warbling about irony: A dress that melts off faster than your mascara.

Two British professors actually created a dress that will dissolve over time - at a slightly slower pace than a sweaty party, they swear (and doesn't that just sound like the premise to a bad 80s flick?).

The dress is made from a clear polymer, polyvinyl alcohol, and is festooned with flowers that leave a little tint as they dissolve.

“In your lifetime you throw away around 20 tonnes of packaging material. We want people to think about that,” co-creator Professor Tony Ryan said.

Hello, Tony? Most girls don't even like their eyeliner dissolving during the day. But thanks for thinking of us.

Special thanks to Fashion Indie for finding out about this.
