Get The Goddess Look: Demeter

DEMETER
The most nurturing god on Olympus, this daughter of Kronos and Rheia, sister of Zeus and Hera, and mother of Persephone is the goddess of fecundity, agriculture, and nutritive vegetation. As goddess of plenty, she is generous but can easily withhold her gifts if angered. The epitome of motherhood, Demeter will go to the ends of the earth for those she holds dear. . . and no one best get in her way . . . not even Zeus!

Don't let her matronly aspects fool you, Demeter's beauty is immortal. She holds sacred wheat, poppy, mint, barley, flax, the snake, and the turtle-dove. Here is a list of products that will help you grow into your own beautiful earth mother:

Korres Little Showergel in Mint Tea
When Queen Metaneira offered Demeter wine the goddess refused and asked the lady for a tea-like drink of barley and mint. Korres' refreshing shower gel not only captures Demeter's taste for mint tea, but is also made with wheat, her favorite plant, and other naturally antioxidant ingredients.

While desperately searching for her lost daughter, Persephone, Demeter was received kindly by the rulers of Eleusis. In gratitude, she taught them the cultivation of wheat. Furthermore, the growth of flax was believed to be a sign of healthy soil—making both wheat and flax sacred to Demeter. Capture Demeter's "golden-bladed" eyes easily with these eyelid shades.

Because the poppy grows strong and healthy in wheat fields, this bright flower became one of Demeter's faves. This divine, Demeter-loving color can be used as a lipstick or a blush for true earth-goddess appeal.
Strangely inviting, this refreshingly earthy fragrance reminds one of newly sown and plowed fields—Demeter's true domain. How could you go wrong with a brand named after the goddess herself?

When Persephone was abducted by Hades, Demeter lit torches ablaze to search all the earth's dark places for her beloved daughter. From then on, the torch became a sacred symbol of Demeter. Get the look with Smashbox's eyeshadow in Torch.
Though we don't have ambrosia and nectar to keep us young, as do Demeter and her family, with Absolue Ultimate Bx Serum perhaps they aren't necessary. Made with barley, one of Demeter's faves, as well as other agricultural products such as yams and soy, this divine serum restores moisture to the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
