A while back, I revealed a trend that was lining the nails of Firenze's chic-est ladies.
Turns out, Latest Beauty did some research and discoverd this 'party in the middle, business on the sides' manicure actually has a name: The Italian Manicure. There's even step-by-step instructions on the web and, supposedly, it makes your fingers appear longer and skinnier.
Pic: Fellow Sephoran, Lauren Miller, proudly sported the stripes this weekend. I think she hand-led it quite well...don't you?
UPDATE:
I treated myself to an Italiano this evening (left). I prefer my manicure to Lauren's (hands down) but we must consider the fact that Lauren applied her Italiano while the cashier rang up her clothing purchases at a department store. Thus, the quality of her
handiwork suffered and our readers have nicknamed her, "The Claw."

Who writes the stuff?? 'Nail Mohawk' and 'party in the middle, business on the sides'
THIS IS BLOODY BRILLIANT.
Sorry, I think that this looks absolutely absurd!! *hides*
But I do agree with anonymous, and 2nd him or her when I say that your description is brilliant!
I still have to try this out! I can't decide if it's going to look amazing or just plain silly. I definitely think it has a certain European charm though. And eee, thanks for the plug!

They make your nails look like claws! Hideous!
Oh yes, Claws. Rawr. Take this!
I love it and will try it with
my NARS "Rebel Yell"
You gotta love a manicure you can give yourself in the time it takes to swipe your Visa. Go Lauren!
That is so hot. I'm going to try it with a deep red polish from Urban Decay. I'm thinking of wearing this to the Twilight movie premiere. These are totally premiere fingers ;)

Ok. Ok. I'm here to defend myself with my claws. ;)
I have to say that at first, this look was a little unnerving. But over the course of the day I really grew to love my nail mohawk. Next time, I think I'll stay away from the black and maybe use my SEPHORA by OPI "I'm with Brad" instead.
And Amber, you are so right. This is the perfect look for the Twilight premiere.
