Secrets From The Founder's Files: MAKE UP FOR EVER

Last week I had the pinch-me-I'm-dreaming pleasure of attending Sephora's Founder's Day event, which gave me two days of access to brand founders like Jean Ford from Benefit, Lisa Price from Carol's Daughter and Dany Sanz from MAKE UP FOR EVER. In between testing out new beauty products and getting makeovers, I picked up a few secrets to share.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped into MAKE UP FOR EVER's lounge were the Hollywood-style lights and cameras everywhere. Not a surprise, considering Dany Sanz created her products for actors before she even thought about offering the line to the non-stage types.

Fans are mad about MUFE (yes, we love them so much we gave them a jingley nickname) because of the colors: They're richly pigmented and never run, smudge, or wear off. That's what you can expect from makeup made to withstand stage lights and aquatic shows.

Dany told me she began her company 25 years ago in France - shortly after also opening Europe's first makeup school. No wonder she had so many gorgeous tips for me:

* Never leave home without: "Color. A bit of blush makes you look younger, healthier, and prettier. Always always wear blush."

* How she makes her makeup last: "When creating new products, I always think first about actors. Everything I make must first work on a stage."

* If you love her made for high definition line: Her HD foundations and HD powder are best sellers at Sephora, so this is big: She's going to launch HD concealer in 10 shades. AAAHHH!!

* The 25-color question: MUFE has 25 shades of foundation. Yes, a lot. "We consider ourselves an ethnic brand; we are creating shades for every color of skin you will find in the world." No wonder my insanely hard to match yellow-undertone skin loves Dany.
