Celebrity Gift Giving, Part II

I already found out what certain Hollywood stars are getting this year (celebs, don't peek here.  It'll only ruin the surprise).

Now, straight from Carol Shaw, makeup artist for every red carpet event from the Oscars to the Emmys, I got the scoop on what clients on her good list are getting: The Lorac Croc Case Full Face Collection.

I'm finding this to be an infinitely steal-able idea. First, it's $250 of makeup piled onto an under-$50 pricetag. Plus, the two-tiered makeup palette comes in its own glossy, enameled hard shell croc case. Which means you can either keep that for yourself (oops! Did I say that?) or your recipient gets a bonus jewellery case with her makeup palette.  Thirdly, the glosses are removable.  Genius!  No lugging around the entire palette for a lip service after dinner.

Carol was extremely cautious about picking just the right colors for her palette, too, so the end result is a color collection that does everything.  For example, there are 3 different smokey eye looks in this palette:
1. Brown + burgundy shadows for a holiday look
2. Black shadows + silvery gray for a classic smokey eye
3. Deep brown + lighter glimmer brown for a neutral smokey eye (hello, office party that starts at 5 pm with no time to go home and change!).

I'd even add a third: The gorgeous teal shade topped with a bronze shadow, because I can't get over that trend from the summer.

And don't anyone tell my sisters that this was supposed to come in a glossy case, ok?

This palette is a great value and the shadows blend easily, the highlighter is gorgeous, and the pop-out lipgloss idea is as smart as ever. The case is very professional, clean and modern, too.

Love it, Carol!
