Read My Lips: I Lurve Red

Target (they of the red & white logo), surveyed women to find out what we already know: Girls and guys alike love red lips. But seriously, we knew that.

Red is a power color. Want an instant boost of confidence? Slick on something crimson. Target found that more than 60 percent of women and men think that when a woman adds an extra punch of color to her beauty palette, she’s signaling that she feels fabulous about herself – and after all, added confidence is the ultimate accessory.

Additional Target poll findings:

o Almost 40 percent of women who wear red lipstick do so to feel feminine, while 37 percent do it to feel sexy.

o To dress up an outfit, 44 percent of women wear high heels and 61 percent get their hair done.

o The majority of men and women polled (33 percent) named Angelina Jolie as the celebrity who has the most sought-after red lips. I ask: Did they need a poll for that?

o 61 percent of respondents perceive wearing red on lips or nails as neither “naughty” or “nice” – showing that there are no stereotypes associated with this versatile shade.
