Manicures Are For Men Too!

Okay, Jenny finally convinced me to take the plunge into the (once thought) maniacal world of manicures for men. And, I have to say, I'm glad I did.

Guys listen, no matter how much you think men shouldn't care about their hands; those manly mugs do get noticed. Unkempt nails don't just look better; they are a sign of a groomed and hygienic person who cares about his health and appearance. Overgrown cuticles, alligator skin, and dirt under jagged nails impress no one. You shower, shave, and trim your hair right? So why not take care of those very noticeable mitts?

Concern NUMERO UNO: No, you won't be forced to get lovely lady fingers like Jenny's (unless you want them of course):
The MANicure: Like this...

...not like this

The process is the same, actually . . . but if you don't want color (hey, some men do!), then you're done in a jiffy. First, they trim your claws to resemble the human nail. Then, they soak your hand in a water solution (this one had a citrus in it) to soften the cuticles. Then, using a cuticle clipper, they cut those overgrown weeds out with little effort. The experience ends with a hand massage with soothing and healing hand cream. It takes minutes, is not at all expensive, and the final results speak for themselves.

A man showing no fear when faced with an emery board

As always, Sephora has some great hand care products for men that will keep those dukes looking manicured yet masculine.

Billy Jealousy Golden Gloves™ Therapeutic Hand Cream: This hand cream is formulated for rough, dry, overused mitts. Its mix of botanicals nourishes and protects hardworking hands.

Jean Paul Gaultier Tout Beau - Strong Nails Duo: Perfect for the two-in-one approach, Gaultier's wand keeps nails looking fresh and naturally groomed. One side gives your nails a subtle hint of color that enhances (but does not change) their natural shade. The other side is a clear top coat that keeps the nails looking polished looking for longer.

Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer: Perfect for manhandled mugs, Jack Black's hand cream blends Eucalyptus with vitamins A and E to lessen calluses and heal cuticles. Plus, it's been tested, and approved, by those who use their hands the most—such as doctors, carpenters, golfers, and chefs.

Amen Jenny!! Men so need to get manicures, just not with colored nail polish. There is nothing attractive about men with dry hands, ragged cuticles and unkept nails. I wish I could get my man to get a mani once in a while. He will hardly even let me do it for him at home. Makes me crazy!

Guys should really pay attention! What about pedicures, though? I think the feet usually get even less attention, unfortunately.

Ooh! Pedis! I think that's the next thing you have to talk Dax into...

Yeah, Jenny has her work cut out for her if she thinks I'm going to go for a pedi. But if anyone can talk me into it, it's her. I'll do it for a good laugh . . . and I might be won over. Who knows, right?
