Obscene Green: Spinach For Your Face

If you're not going to eat your greens, maybe you should try wearing them.

The Canadian government is funding the development of an organic extract made from baby spinach. This extra would be used in (ready for this??) skincare.

Technically, this is no stranger than blueberries or citrus fruits...but let's be honest about the vegetable: It's like fruit's far more practical and slightly less sophisticated sister. A raspberry face mask attends movie premiers, watches Dynasty, and spends too much money on cocktails and devilishly cute handbags, whereas spinach hand lotion does homework promptly as it's assigned, makes and then actually checks things off a to-do list, and would never borrow your best cashmere sweater and "forget" to return it.

Of course it's true that just like fruit, baby spinach has anti-aging benefits. But cosmeceutical spinach? Here's hoping it stays away from the salad bar.

"I yam what I yam."
