Like the word cockroaches, scrunchies is a word that can strike up terror, fear, and serious flinching. Also like cockroaches, scrunchies apparently won't die.
Last year, one of our editors spotted a major scrunchie trend happening in Japan. We were amused, but not frightened - after all, they'd never come back here, right? Right?
Wrong. Shine from Yahoo reports scrunchies are staging a comeback in the U.S. Worse, they have proof. While reviving trends can be fun, not everything deserves a comeback. Because if scrunchies make it, I'm bringing back frosted pink lipstick.

Lots of 80's trends are back. I wouldn't be surprised if Sephora started selling Aquanet.
Ha ha! Under the influence of extreme nostalgia, I'd buy a can of Aquanet...and would remember why I stopped using it after one squirt.
I used to be so proud of my awesome scrunchies.
I've never given mine up.If you have heavily highlighted hair, you will never experience breakage if you wear your hair in a ponytail.
i refuse to get on board with this.
NNNNOOOOO!!!!
how horrible... someone alert burger! (S&C ref)
No. Just...no. I for one choose death.
oh please! Because Carrie Bradshaw made it cool to hate scrunchies people won't be caught dead with them? I am more worried about people who take everything Carrie says as the gospel.
As someone with THICK, LONG CURLY red hair I sometimes need to keep my hair tied up and flimsy pins don't work on me. I have other hair accessories but I use scrunchies constantly. I can tell you that scrunchies have never kept men away and people compliment my hair constantly.
This anti scrunchie war is ridiculous. Women nowadays wear many more ridiculous things on their head and their bodies then a tiny little scrunchie - those tattoos you all love will become a fashion faux pas one day. Maybe I can scrutinize them, just like they scrutinize the little scrunchie
