SEPHORA Pure Natural 7-Color Palette

Natural beauties, meet your newest must-have: SEPHORA Pure Natural 7-Color Palette ($36). Made with sustainable bamboo and recyclable metal, the palette holds six eye shadows and a blush that contain natural and organic ingredients. Curious about the results? So was I. Last week, I test-drove my palette at the Sephora Fifth Avenue store. Still shaky in all things beauty, I knew I needed pro advice, which came in the form of Tara Zielenski, one of the experts at the store.

Tara began by applying a lid primer, which she said was essential. "Primer makes the pigment a lot more vibrant, and with it, you will pretty much get what you see in the palette.” She patted it gently all over the lids.

Then it was time for the palette. Tara primarily used the shades from the bottom row, starting with the lightest, Sahara, under my brow and into the corners of my eyes. “I like to blend down a little bit toward the lid so that you have no harsh edges once you add the other colors. It makes blending easier." She applied the medium color, Serengeti, on the lower lids and then brushed on a bit more of the Sahara in the corners of my eyes to brighten them.

Next, Tara used the darkest shade, Andes, on the outer corners of the eyes. Using a fluffy brush, she blended it upward, smoothing out the edges. “This is a great day-to-night look. If you want, you can wait to add the darkest shade until you’re ready to go out in the evening,” she said.

For a pop-up color, she added a hint of the purple, Baltic, as a liner on the bottom lash lines and SEPHORA Brand Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Black ($12) very close to the top lash lines. She finished with SEPHORA Brand Lash Stretcher Mascara ($16) on my lashes.

I loved the shimmer in the shades, and Tara was right: It was a perfect day-to-night look. I felt comfortable wearing it in the office, and after adding little bit of the blush from the palette and some gloss, I was all ready to go out after work.
