5 Trends From Fashion Week

New York's Fashion Week has wrapped. Which means for the first time in 7 days, I'm wearing a necklace that doesn't say PRESS PASS, and asking people how their day is without instinctively shoving a voice recorder under their chin.

But 168 hours in the presence of fashionistas and tastemakers gives a girl a chance to pick up on key looks for the coming seasons. The biggest beauty trend? Minimal makeup. Our own Jose Rivera - Artistic Lead for Sephora's PRO Beauty Team - says wearable makeup was king. "There are no 'concept faces' this year," he said. "Everything is low-key." Jose (as well as makeup artists like NARS' Tom Pecheux and Shiseido's Dick Page), thinks these are leftover recession looks – artists are scaling back and showing realistic looks that translate from the runway to the street.

Now observe as I predict future trends:

1. Brows. Big time. Toss out the tweezers; we apparently won’t be plucking anymore.

2. Prepare for a revival of the 80s. Shoulder pads! Contoured cheekbones! Brooke Shield eyebrows! See-through lace! Crimping (see #5)!

3. Lips are going two ways: either coral (or, if you prefer, watermelon) or totally nude.

4. The words “romantic” and “soft” were used generously to describe looks , but that still translated as a minimal makeup look. A set of false lashes, a pop of pink blush and a nude lip, and taa daa! You've created this look at home.

5. Pin-straight is the starting point. From here, we'll either be leaving it as-is, or crimping it. Creative crimping was spotted at lots of shows: All-over crimping; crimping hair then pulling it up in a bun; or straight to the chin, and crimped out from there. Note to Twitter: Beware the #crimping.

I'm afraid it's true - crimping was all over the place at Fashion Week! Heat up those crimper plates....

I agree with the anti-crimping, and anti-shoulder pad and anti-thick brow campaign! I grew up in the 80's and cringe at the styles that were popular then (needless to say, I was rebellious against trendy things back then, lol!). I hope it is just one of those fashion things that never really makes it out into the real world, although, sadly, I am seeing people wearing the torn up, bleached splotched jeans like we (not me!) wore in the 80's...sigh. Even stars like Rhianna are wearing them. ~Angela H.

I LOVE THE 80'S!!! They were all about FUN, COLOR and EXTREMES in both hair and fashion. I loved the big hair and the wild make up. I am totally anti-should pads, however, and the corn crop brows have to go! But, minimal make up does not say 80's to me. If we are going to bring back the 80's then lets do it right! Bring on the color and lets have some fun! =)

I guess the big trends, except for the '80s comeback, is what most women who aren't into makeup and lead busy lives do. As for the brows, if you're born with thick brows, great. If not, tweeze. As far as I'm concerned, brow shape isn't a trend. I couldn't get into thin brows even if I tried, because I was born with thick brows, and I'd be constantly tweezing. Women who try hard to grow thick brows to look more youthful are kidding themselves. It just looks unkempt.

Puhleese leave the 1980s back where it belongs.

I feel like I'm the only one who is anti the nude or natural look. Why put on so much make up to look like you're not wearing any? I won't people to see my colors. I'm a proud peacock. lol. ;-)

I see the shoulder pads coming and I have much fear. My heart weeps for fashion.

Ha, crimping! I remember when I used to do this. Strangely, I think it could have a cool, modern twist if done correctly this time around!

Some 80s style is great. Tight leather pants, hi-tops etc. No mullets though!
