From Illamasqua's blog:
In 2007, 20 year-old Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were kicked, stomped on and left unconscious – for nothing more than looking different. Sophie later died from her injuries.
As a brand that promotes the right to experiment and self-express through the way you look, Illamasqua is committed to changing attitudes towards subcultures.
In tribute to Sophie, Illamasqua has commissioned ‘Dark Angel’ – a short film by award-winning French director, Fursy Teyssier. It's a haunting rendition of Sophie’s story, featuring the music of iconic British band, Portishead.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Illamasqua. It's a heart-wrenching, yet beautiful, reminder for all to accept others' differences. Let's all keep this message in mind not only through the holiday season, but always.

Thats such a beautiful video - I have never heard of her story but it resonates across borders. Many similar stories in my home state. Thanks for flagging this Sephora.
Love this video. Wow, totally gave me the chills. I remember when I first heard Sophie's story for the first time. I could hardly believe that something like that still happens today. And she was so young! Thanks for sharing. It's really beautiful and will leave an indelible mark on me. -j
I'm impressed that Sephora is embracing this cause. It is horrible that these attacks occurred and continue to happen around the world. Thank you for sharing this video with us! It just makes me sad that Sephora chooses not to make the Illimasqua Sophie eyeliner pencils available. That would help further awareness much more than a single mention in this blog.
