Marc Jacobs as China Machado (a 60s supermodel).
François Nars celebrated NARS' 15th anniversary by featuring 15 celebrity portraits, each inspired by a NARS product shade and based on an iconic reference chosen by François himself. He also personally did the makeup of each celeb and photographed every portrait. Did someone say... talented? The book is available for purchase on the 15X15 Online Gallery at 15x15project.com
In keeping with the spirit of giving, NARS is graciously donating three books to our B&TB readers. Just write in the comments section which icon you would want to re-create on yourself and why? Our top three stories will take home the book. Don't forget to include your e-mail address, so we can get in touch.

Veruschka! The super-bronzed skin, nude lips, frosty eyeshadow and crazy out-to-there eyelashes are so insane and so beautiful. That, plus her constant expression of completely self-possessed dreaminess. Love.
I would love to recreate Katherine Dunham’s look from Tropical Revue (1943). Miss Dunham’s life and her stunning beauty are under appreciated, in my opinion. So I would most like to create an ode to her to bring attention to her gorgeous features while also bringing attention to this incredible woman (along with her works in support of Haiti, she also went on to be a voodoo priestess. Hello?) I would love to wear one of her head pieces from Tropical Revue along with a dash of NARS Taj Mahal to recreate the sun kissed look. I’ll start practicing the “come hither” poses now…
The Jennifer Jason Leigh look- so classic and chic! Love the whole menswear thing now too :)

I would love to do an Elizabeth Taylor inspired look. She is an ultimate glamour gal and her amazing eyes and strong brows are the focus of her look. She is an enduring icon and I am in love with her classic beauty. It would be so great to get the nerve to go for the bronze skin, big brows, and fierce eyeliner! Absolutely gorgeous!

Marc Jacobs looks gorgeous :).in the 15x15 choice i would want to recreate liz taylors. she has been my icon for years and her look is timeless, as is her beauty, and ive always appreciated her character too. She was also the first woman i noticed to have such bold brows! if i were going to recreate anyones look, ever, not included in the 15x15 category, it would be bette davis. even more so bette davis as margo channing. but even as just herself she is so full of spirit! and those eyes!
email is tofupoo@gmail.com sorry :)
My icon is French/Canadian singer Mylene Farmer. Her red hair, brown eyes and pale skin has made her one of the most famous faces of France's entertainement, and her style has evolved from victorian Libertine to sultry sexy Diva.
I love her! :) Thanks!

I'd love to recreate Marie-Antoinette's look as depicted in Sofia Coppola's movie. The makeup artists managed to re-create the era accurately while maintaining a contemporary look to the makeup. I love, love, love the rouge on the cheeks and the stained lips on top of milkish white skin.

i would love to recreate a edith piaf look.
the french singer displayed her music from her heart through her emotions. Her iconic eyebrows, her strong contoured cheeks, deep wine lips, red curls and her song La Vie En Rose would be incorporated in the look. i believe it would be the perfect icon for Francois or anyone to recreate.

I would want to recreate myself as Selena Quintanilla. She was absolutely gorgeous, died before it was her time, and she had an amazing smile that always makes me want to smile. Her life story is just very inspirational, she knew what she wanted to do since she was a kid, and always went after that dream, and kept a positive outlook on life. She loved designing clothes, singing and her family. She had a boutique along with a salon. I just believe that she was one of the most beautiful people inside and out who appreciated life and everything it offered her. I have always looked up to her and admired her since I was about 7 or 8. She had a great impact in the hispanic community, and to me she is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

Gemma Ward! Her eye makeup looks amazing. I love the big-doll eyes she pulls off and would love to recreate that look.

i'd like to sport a marilyn monroe or sophia loren inspired look. i'm curvaceous and in our day and age, that's not always appreciated (emaciated seems to be the look of the day now). but in the hey day of those fabulous ladies, curves were lauded and sought after. they were considered feminine and beautiful. so i'd really like to take a page from their glamorous style books and go all out femme fatale. cat eye, red lip, faux beauty mark... the whole nine...

I would love to recreate Bianca Jaggar's looks from the 70's. She made & continues to make "smokings" look hot & feminine.
Audrey Hepburn! Her iconic look from Breakfast at Tiffany's! It's such a classic girlie but elegant look..so simple and romantic!

Angelica Houston as Morticia is gorgeous, and represents unconventional beauty. The red lips, the smokey eye (as a daily look) and the pale, glowing skin is to die for!
I'll bet you with, Nars Jungle Red lipstick, Paris and Pandora eyeshadow duos I will make a perfect clone! And I sew, so I do plan to have a dress just like Morticia's (though I prefer the 1960s dress to the modern 90s version)
Maybe that will be my look on my wedding day (I am serious, and I am THAT pale)

I would want to recreate Audrey Hepburn's iconic look from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's on me. Why would I want to recreate her look on me? Well, first of all, she & I are similar appearance wise, we're both fair skinned brunettes with brown eyes, so her look would fit me well. Second, she's a CLASSIC BEAUTY, she wears minimal makeup & still looks AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS. I also love that she plays up her eyes with mascara and a little eyeliner, yet still manages to keep a simplistic look. The last thing I LOVE about Audrey's look, and another reason why I'd want to recreate it on me is that I love how gorgeous her lips are, they are very natural, yet there is something else that draws me to them, maybe it's their flawless rosy color.
I would love to recreate the "Love Story" look, chic hippy trends, light but classic makeup and that beautiful straight hair

I would love to re-create Clara Bow's distinctive look on myself. Her look transformed an entire era and remains one of the signature looks of the 20th century. I love the painted ruby lip paired with her beautiful bob and smoldering eyes. She balances the fine line between seductress and fragile girl that is within every woman.

I would love to recreate Madonna's look in the late 80s/early 90s. she had such a unique style and was always open to taking risks and started many-a-trend because of it. Her funky look, complete with a little bit of ungroomed eyebrows and messy-chic look would fit in perfectly with my lifestyle (plucking my eyebrows is the bane of my existence). Also her seductive and sexy style would also be fun to recreate. Plus, we both have a gap in our teeth, and one of the reasons I never got it fixed was because I loved how it looked on Madonna.

i would definitely want to recreate a bridgette bardot look! the girl defined sex kitten, and i love recreating with my makeup and hair everyday! i've even gotten the comparison once or twice when i pull off a really good cat eye/ nude lip combination. shes beyond gorgeous, and a stellar beauty inspiration! xx lexiebear.xo@hotmail.com
I would recreate the iconic "Nancy Kwan bob cut" from the 1960s, made famous by Vidal Sassoon and Vogue. I love how chic and timeless that haircut is, yet how cutting edge it was back then. Especially, since she was one of the few Asian-American actresses of the time. I am Asian-American myself and would love to have this look! And of course, I would don the blackest-black false eyelashes and eyeliner with a pale lip! Also, I must mention that I LOVE Francois Nars and own XRAY. I just adore his design aesthetic!

i would like to create Cleopatra inspired look. i have naturally fair skin and want to try a golden bronze look. i think it's very classy and rich.

Katharine Hepburn is an icon I would love to recreate. She always had a glow and easy look to her in photos. A strong woman in a time when woman weren't always heard, especially in hollywood. A simple red lip, dewy skin and wavy hair - gorgeous! And the red lip always comes from Nars in my world.
