What’s Your Beauty Nightmare?

I sleep like a baby. I get solid shut-eye for two to three hour tops. I often wake up and do things like count sheep, check Facebook and wonder why I can’t sleep. When I do actually get some rest, I often have very vivid dreams. They usually involve themes like work, vampires and Pilates classes. But this weekend, my dreams became super scary!

That’s because this weekend, I had a serious beauty nightmare.

Insert wave-like flashback music: I was on my way to an extra-special event where a new, super spokesmodel was going to be announced for a high-end fragrance company. For some reason, I was backstage getting ready for the fabulous fete. As I went to curl my lashes I looked at the mirror and gasped. My tinted moisturizer had flaked and caked into lizard-like skin. Along the base of my jaw I had a thick, cracking bronze line of reptilian weirdness. And I was unable to remove the patches of makeup on my cheeks and forehead. I tried to blend away the heavy gold hues with a new formula, but nothing worked. Someone at the mirror next to me saw me struggling and just laughed that Thriller video laugh. I did the requisite dreamscape run around looking for a solution and then I woke up.

Freudian theories as to why I had a beauty-product related nightmare are welcome. But the reality is: My beauty nightmare is bad skin. Lately, I’ve been playing connect the dots with blemishes. I’m also in between fantastic tinted moisturizers, which make coverage and luminosity a bit of a white whale.
So, here we go: What are your beauty nightmares? And while you’re commenting, do you have any recommendations for a sheer, yet full coverage, hydrating tinted moisturizer?

Thanks and sweet dreams. –Jenna Mahoney

Korres Tinted Moisturizer: AMAZING. Full coverage, but definitely moisturizing and feels oh-so-nice on my skin!

My beauty nightmare- all my eyelashes fall out or break. Unfortunately, for some odd reason, they did just do this (right eyelashes look like someone took gardening shears to them and hacked them off). So, alas, worst beauty nightmare came true. :(

Sorry, no suggestions on the tinted moisturizer, as I use full foundation.

bleh my worst beauty nightmare is when my teeth fall out. those are sooo scary because like i think reptilian skin can be hidden but no teeth?
and you cant get them back right away either :(

I just had a beauty-related dream that I was so artfully applying (and blending) smokey green eyeshadow and liner, taking my time... when I realized I had ballet class and had forgotten my ballet slippers and leotard! So much for spending all that time on makeup

I've had many beauty nightmares; peeling skin, losing my hair and losing my teeth. I've dreamt of losing my teeth so much I had to look it up. It simply means that I'm afraid of losing my youthful appearance. Hell who isn't? Anyways. I love Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Like Butta! Great coverage and has an incredible texture. Very moisturizing for the colder months. Stila Tinted Moisturizer is really great too if you prefer lighter moisture.

I second the Laura Mercier tinted.

I'm living my beauty nightmare. I'm broken out all over my T zone, and as soon as one area clears up, another erupts nearby. What usually works has not. Heading for the derm...

Unless anyone has any recommendations?

My beauty nightmares always have to do with my hair....whether it's falling out or just looks like crap in general...I have tried *every* single tinted moisturizer and the only ones I like are the 'faux' tinted moisturizers...meaning they aren't called 'tinted moisturizers' but technically they are. Makeup For ever F&B and MAC mineralize satinfinish (buffed in!) are the best. :)

I have dreamt multiple times that my eyebrows are so long that I have to hold them back with a headband. I've also dreamt about my arm hair being long and needing to brush it... I think I have a phobea of hair! lol
