Makeup Matters: A Travel Advisory

I’m melting in Mexico and it isn’t pretty.

I came down here for three days because my day job called for me to serve on a panel at a conference. Translation: I’ve seen more of the business center than the beach. And I need to look my best—and fresh-faced—at all times. Except Maya Riviera, on Mexico’s east coast, is wicked humid and my makeup bag is filled liquid-based, hydrating formulas to counteract the fall temperatures in New York. You see, I packed presentation-worthy Caribbean-inspired outfits in pale tones, but I failed to think of my makeup. A few weeks ago, I switched out all the powder-based products in anticipation for the winter. And well, yeah, now I look like a trippy version of myself. I’ve got to blot and reapply every 15 minutes. And my mascara has yet to stay put. (Worst part: It’s waterproof!)

Let my mistake be a help to you: Remember your makeup when packing this holiday travel season. And here’s another tip: Solid perfumes, dry shampoo and Rosebud Salve fly through security. –Jenna Mahoney

Oh no! I hate hearing beauty travel horror stories. I recently read a post from my other favorite beauty blog with tips on beauty travel for the holidays too.
Bottom line, can Sephora start selling a collapsible blow dryer please? :)
