Have we got some exciting news for you! Famed, fabulous and fuchsia-tressed jewelry designer TARINA TARANTINO will be launching a complete cosmetics collection in February 2010, available only at Sephora. (Did you know she also used to be a model and makeup artist?)
To celebrate, Sephora held an exclusive editor event last night in NYC. Once guests walked through the door, they entered "The Sparkle Factory," aka where the TARINA TARANTINO creative magic happens.
The luxurious products were displayed on gorgeous vanity tables, strands of TARINA TARANTINO baubles draped throughout the room and larger-than-life pics of models wearing the makeup were framed and hung to complete the fantastical ambiance.

I don't think there is anybody more qualified to put out a make-up line than a make-up artist. If you look her up on youtube, you will see that she is hands on with the make-up on the models for her jewelry line shoots. And I love the playful packaging!

I agree, Tarina is totally hands on applying make up on her models on youtube "My Pretty" videos. She cared about the ingredients, she's a color expert and
the packaging will be awesome. Fashion designers have their own make up lines, Tarina is no different.

Her stuff looks uninteresting and just because she was a makeup artist doesn't mean she is qualified to formulate makeup products! That is most funny to think that! That is why there are so many crappy brands out there right now- people who don't know what they are doing trying to pass of cheap, crappy makeup to suckers who buy it because they like the image of the person or think they can look like that person by wearing their crap (think Kat Von D). All the power to her if she can suck money from the masses.
i like the sparkle dusters, i use sparkle stuff a lot and it's always been a mess to apply, hopefully the sprayer wont get clogged...
she looks weird in the video, she looks young sometimes and then really old, it was kinda freaking me out..was that cuz of how she did her makeup or the lighting?
anyway, i'll check it out the line, but so far it looks like the same high-pigment eyeshadow everyone else has out and i could care less about the crystals, they're gunna pop off anyway
i'm obsessed with her jewelry line though :) i just wish it wasn't so expensive for what it is..it's a wee bit over priced...but i guess that's what makes people want it so much...i hope the same doesn't go for her makeup line :/
Just because someone can apply makeup does not mean they can put out a high quality makeup line! And I agree with the previous poster who said she looked weird in the video. I think she is older but in certain flattering lighting she looks younger.
i can't wait 'til this stuff sells and people can put reviews. i'm always looking for good makeup to buy. the dust spray looks pretty, it would be an improvement to my shimmer dust in a tin that gets all over when applied with a brush

I never met her but I think Tarina is down to earth from the reply I recieved from her on Twitter about her hair colour.

Wow, Tarina must be doing something right for the haters to come out so quickly! She has been in business for a long time so that comment kind of sounds like it might be a loser ex-employee or someone who tried to knock off her designs and failed. In fact that comment is probably from the people copying her designs here in Florida, they are such losers!!!! I met Tarina last month in Jacksonville at Edge City and she was so sweet and lovely, she stayed for hours and made sure to meet everyone! and if her makeup is anything like her jewelry it will be amazing!!! Go Tarina keep sparkling!!!!!
I HAVE also met her and I can say from first hand experience.. she is great! Tarina was so kind, energetic and patient with each fan that she encountered that day. I for one am excited for her and for what I am going to be adding to my Tarina collection.. Keep SPARKLIING on girl!
My make-up favorites range from Wet N' Wild to Christian Dior. As well as lines by make-up artists like Stila, Bobbi Brown and Kevyn Aucoin...who I'm pretty sure were not chemists. Gasp!
To judge anything before you try it is foolish. There is room for everybody in my beauty kit! The great thing about Sephora testing stations is that you can give anything a try before purchasing. I am a true blue beauty product lover and I look forward to any new line that they carry! Bring it on!

Wow, ok if you don't like her or the idea of her make up line don't buy it! Easy! Who care's if she's not "qualified" and I think if you used to be a MU that counts as a huge qualification because you know how you want your make up to be and last.

I personally met her and her husband and found her to be very sincere and engaging in conversation. you don't need to be a MUA to know what you want your makeup to be and lasting. I'm not a "professional" MUA but I certainly have standards for what my makeup should do, consistency, staying ability, etc.. Now all I need is someone else to do all the hard work by actually formulating that for me, dye my hair pink, and viola, I can have my own makeup line!
The fact is, even if Anonymous posters posted under their actual log in name instead, they are still technically "anonymous" to you if they have their profile private! It isn't like you can access any info on them or anything so I'm not sure why it matters if someone posts anonymously or under their log in name. What are you going to harass them if you found out who they are? seriously?
My account is set to private so random people I don't know can't access personal information about me but it doesn't mean I would be afraid to speak my mind about stuff. I am excited to see this line. I met Tarina at Edge City at 5-Points in Jax, FL. (Hi, Gunnel!) I was impressed w/her! I've been a fan of her jewelry for a couple of yrs. Her jewelry is fun, durable, hip & gorgeous.. just like her. I look forward to this make-up line being of the same qualities. I will definitely check it out when it become available.

It definitely sounds like there are people hating on Tarina Tarantino (which makes me curious to WHY there are so many haters?), and it also sounds like Tarantino company is taking the time to respond back! You naysayers are cracking me up, do you really think that "qualifications" come in to play when launching a line. That would be like saying Paris Hilton is qualified to formulate perfume... Personally I think that she is an innovative, creative, and socially responsible entrepreneur. A breath of fresh air. So unless your grinding your own beetles and mixing it with beeswax to make that new red lipstick... remember that you live in America and if you don't like it you dont have to buy it...

turning you green? Anonymous hater are you crazy? I have been wearing tarina jewelry for years and find it be the highest quality and never had a problem. In fact her earrings are the only thing I can wear that doesnt give me a reaction. You must be confused.
All I can think of is how much is this going to cost? Sephora's not too expensive, but Tarina's stuff is just way too much. Does this mean I'm going to be charged 200 bucks for a tube of lipgloss? Certainly hope not.
On the other hand, I am excited for this provided it's actually affordable. Tarina is a great designer and Sephora has amazing product. Hope it's as good as I'm imagining it will be. =]

I really love the jewelry but again it is plastic kids stuff and way over priced and brakes like gumball machine toys,
They look pretty enough, but the high pigment payoff is already being done by Doe Deere, and much better.
Granted Tarina's are more natural looking colors, but still.
I'd have to see it in person to see how it's any different than most of the millions of other eyeshadows out there, since the colors don't really look THAT different.
Doe Deere's are at least unique!
I'd like to find out if these cosmetics are cruelty-free. If UD can do it so can Miss Tarantino! The new line looks tempting but I'd feel better knowing it wasn't tested on small fluffy critters.
I have carried her line for over 7 years. Her jewelry lines are unique and creative. She was a make up artist before she ever started a jewelry line.So I hope that answers the question of people who stated "What makes a jewelry designer qualifed to launch a cosmetic line."I agree with several of you who believe the haters are people who have attempted to knock off her designs and were unsuccessful. Both her, her husband and their staff are very friendly genuine people. I find it hard to believe that anyone who met her would think otherwise. She stayed longer at my store as well in order to meet everyone who came to see her. Don't we have enough problems in the world that we also have to knock down people for petty reasons.
