Blog Tag: Jenna’s 4-Step Skincare Routine

Shucks! I’ve known this post was coming and I still had a difficult time whittling down my four top picks. (I even had a dream about it last night.) Like Joannie I tend to mix it up on the regime since I’m constantly trying new cleaners and eye creams in search of the ultimate combo. It’s no secret that I truly believe glowing skin trumps all beauty needs and there are few fabulous helpers that I keep in regular rotation. These four products have proven to keep my face clear, my complexion even and my skin super soft.
Name: Jenna Mahoney (that's me makeup-free in Madrid)
Title: Freelance Beauty Blogger
Skin Type: Moody. No seriously: Combination on the Oily side
Main Concern: Clear complexion and Fighting fine lines

Cleanse:

Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser ($18)
Borrowed from the boys, this 2-in-1 cleanser and toner gets deep into pores to flush out any icky debris. Take that, black heads and white bumps! Witch hazel acts as a powerful astringent while organic chamomile, aloe leaf and sage sooth and calm any possible redness. My trick: Apply in circular motions across face and neck, wash hair or shave or whatever, and remove cleanser. I feel like it gets deeper, more effective and super squeaky-clean results.

Moisturize:
Clarins Younger Longer Balm ($99)
There’s a reason this magic formula costs so much—it actually works. I swear I feel the super-tick, ultra hydrating cream actually erasing fine lines on contact. Thanks to a symphony of patented ingredients, skin feels plumper and softer and those dark patches under my eyes somehow seem to disappear. Instructions call for application every other day, so I tend to mix with a lighter moisturizer (usually
Boscia Oil-Free Daily Hydration SPF 15). It also extends the life of my bottle.

Treat:
Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel- Sensitive Skin ($39)
My Sunday ritual involves a face steam with essential oils, a cup of Yoga tea, a solo viewing of Brothers & Sisters and an application of this organic wash-off masque. Apple lemon, raw sugar cane and other fruit extracts even texture and improve tone while exfoliating a go-go. The tingling sensation makes me believe it is working overtime. And the fact that Husband notices my skin is softer and clearer means it actually is.

Protect:

Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 ($30)
The protection phase of my morning routine could use a better boost. I know that I should be wearing SPF everyday, all day, but for some reason I can’t pull it together. An application of this sheet tinted formula evens over any imperfections while still imparting a bit of sun protection. As an extra bonus it has serious sticking power and doesn’t slip throughout the day like some light-weight moisturizers.
Now, I tag Mari!
