FOS: The Fashion Patrol

February may mean only six weeks until spring for most people, but for me it’s all about Fashion Week. I get so excited for the celebs, the backstage chaos and—of course—the clothes. Although I equate all le semaine du mode to Christmas, there are a slew of people who have to hustle to make it work. Julia Samersova Adler a booker at Cast Inc. and Planet Awesome Kid and FOS (Friend of Sephora) is one of them. She shared her insider secrets to surviving the busiest time of the year.
B&TB: What is your fashion function?
Julia: I am a casting director, founder of
cast inc. a full service casting company and also the founder of planet awesome kid, a street style site for kids! I am also mamma to one year old Violet and a lover of old school hip hop!
B&TB: What your typical day during fashion week?
Julia: I’m usually the designer studios or backstage at the tents. I run around a lot from castings to fittings to castings and then to shows. Yes, my feel hurt when I get home. It's all so exhausting and exhilarating at once!
B&TB: What three products help you get through the week?
Julia:
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue ($45) because without it I feel naked. The scent is so euphoric. It’s truly amazing! Clarins Liquid Bronze ($32.50) is hands down the most natural looking self tanner ever made. It dries instantly and gives me an incredible glow year round. Without it I look dreary, especially mid-winter. Nars Orgasm Blush ($26) is simply the best shade of blush around. I won’t leave home with out it—enough said.
B&TB: What non-beauty item helps?
Julia: Tea, tea and more tea. It’s the ultimate in comfort. And it cares for my soul.
B&TB: What is the first thing you do once the shows end?
Julia: I run to my favorite salon, Davidov in Midtown [Manhattan] and get the best mani, pedi and Brazilian wax. Then, I spend as much time with my daughter and husband as I can.
B&TB: Do you have any other post-fashion week plans?
Julia: Planet Awesome Kid has joined forces with
Global Action for Children to host a huge benefit for them in March at Milk Studios in New York. We are very excited—we are even going to have a beauty bar! –Jenna Mahoney
