There’s been beacoup talk over here at B&TB about hair. Add that to the fact that I’m deep—and I mean swimming with the sharks deep—into an extra special project about the best hair in Oscar history and I can’t stop thinking about dos, don’ts and all those styles. One thing that I’ve become enormously fixated upon is the pixie cut. I think it is so adorable, so flattering, but more importantly nearly impossible to look icky. And now I find myself imagining how handsome I’d look with a sweetly shorn do. But then I think: Hmm all of those pixie topped red carpet girls have something in common (well, besides being gorgeous and talented and impossibly rich) they all have a slight, almost fairy-like body shape. Me—not so much. So then that gets me into my SATC wondering moods: Does body shape indicate the best cut for you?
It seems like in the pixie example, the answer would be yes. But what about bobs? In my completely non-scientific approach the medium bob seems to be best for someone like me, a medium size girl. And long layers? Well, I’d put those in the universally flattering category. How about you? Do you girls take body shape into account when you sit in your stylist’s chair? Swak –Jenna Mahoney
Ps I can barely wait for Oscar 2010 hair recaps!!

My style is based on what I like on my face shape vs body shape.
I always style my hair according to my look.
Well, yet another post about straight hair. I am a curly girl, if I sported anything shorter than 3 inches below my shoulders, I would have an afro thx very much. So yeah, hairstyle for me is just defined by my hair alone.
I'm in the same boat with Cheapcosmetics. I have naturally curly hair, although I don't have the 'fro problem. I keep mine ear/chin length.
My style is determined by my hair and what it wants to do, not my body. They are separate issues.
Totally a "yes" on the body size, vs hair style question! I figure the bigger hair, the smaller my hips look! (Within reason of course, but no pixie cut for me!)
I always thought it was face shape. I Love, love, love the pixie cut as well...but I have a rounder, fuller face and a wider nose. If my hair was short like that, i think it would make me appear even bigger in the face.
I did have an angled bob for awhile. I just made sure the front part that frames my face was long...like to my collar bone...and then the back was short. It looked cute and it didn't make my face look fat (or widen my nose) haha!
Actually the body shape is very important. Bigger girls should always wear shorter haircuts because long hair hides their neck and make them look like they are short and chubby. And I am sure the same fact works with short people - longer hair, the shorter you look.
I kind of cut my hair based on my body type, so so much the kind of cut, but the length. I'm very very petite so anything too long makes me look... weird I guess.
I think it is all of the above: what your hair type is like, what your face shape is and what type of body you have. I've been wanting to go for the bob for some time now, but feel like I need to loose a few lbs before I can pull it off. Bcse just like christina1973us, I agree the bigger/longer my hair, the more lbs I can hide!
