Oscar Beauty Trends from LORAC's Carol Shaw

As all of you know, today’s buzz is all about the Oscars. While we’re all surprised and exciting about some of the winners, our own buzz is centered around “Who wore what?” and, of course, the top beauty trends! One of our dear friends—the lovely lady behind LORAC and long-time makeup-artist of Academy Award-goers—Carol Shaw (pictured left), gave us the lowdown on her top beauty trends from the awards show:

RETRO
"I loved the retro look! To get it: Use LORAC's HOLLYWOOD HOT LIST COLLECTION on eyes, cheeks, and lips. For eyes, use the lightest eyeshadow under brow to highlight. Next, use the medium shade to contour in the crease. Apply the dark brown in the outer corners and crease, and then blend out. Line and define with FRONT OF THE LINE PRO LIQUID EYELINER. Finally, add lots of VISUAL EFFECTS MASCARA in Black. For cheeks, use HOT & SPICY’s shimmering peach blush on the cheekbones and the bronzer side to contour under the cheekbone. Finish with COUTURE SHINE LIQUID LIPSTICK (pictured right) in TREND SETTER on the lips and apply TANtalizer BODY BRONZING LUMINIZER for a luminous tan glow."


AU NATUREL
"I like a natural, yet defined look. To get it: start with LORAC's NEW LITTLE BLACK PALETTE for the eyes. To highlight, use the lightest eye shadow to shade on the lid, the second shade to contour in the crease, and the darkest shade smudged all over the lid as a top and bottom liner. Use SPECIAL EFFECTS MASCARA in Black for long, wispy lashes. For a pop of color on cheeks, try BAKED MATTE SATIN BLUSH (pictured right) in Plush (peach satin) and on lips, use COUTURE SHINE LIQUID LIPSTICK in ICONIC (a rosey bronze)."

BOMBSHELL RED
"I think red lips can look really glamorous—true Hollywood glamour! To get it: use LORAC's LITTLE BLACK PALETTE on eyes and apply the light gold on lid. Apply the second shade in the crease. Lots of black liner makes this look. Use FRONT OF THE LINE PRO LIQUID EYELINER. Finish off with a coating of BLACK VISUAL EFFECTS MASCARA on lashes. For the cheeks I’d use BAKED MATTE SATIN BLUSH in Flaunt (pink satin) and for the beautiful red lip, use BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMANCE LIPSTICK in LEADING LADY—a true red."
