Mother's Day Giveaway: Sultra Hair Irons only at Sephora

Mother’s Day is fast approaching. (May 9!) We’re celebrating early with a week’s worth of giveaways you can share with your Mom.

We've saved the best for last. One lucky winner will receive not one, but two five-star-rated irons from Sultra for a total winnings of $385! This state-of-the-art line of heat styling tools will certainly bring tears of joy to your mom and cement you as her all-time favorite child.

Sultra irons are made of ceramic so they heat up fast, straighten and curl in one pass, and they don't fry your hair. In fact, quite the opposite, the irons' infrared rays actually repair your hair.

The first item in our prize package is the Seductress, which straightens and gives you every kind of curl from '40s Hollywood siren waves to messy mermaid locks.

The second is the Laser Zebra, a glitter-rock gadget that creates pin-straight hair, and like all Sultra irons, it comes with an auto-shut off feature that turns off the device if left unattended for 30 minutes.

How excited are you to win? To enter, you can either ask us a question about hair (and we'll answer it in upcoming posts) or share your expert styling tip. We also need your email address. This giveaway goes 'til Monday morning 9 am PST. Good luck!

At night after washing my hair, while my hair is wet I part it on the side and clip it back all over and it dries WAY straighter than it would than if I blow dry it. Helps when I straighten it the next day! Also it's important to use a thermal spray before using a flat iron.

A tip, which may not work for everyone: I wash my hair, wrap it in a super-absorbent towel, take it off 15 minutes later, and run my fingers through it. About an hour after that, I brush it, when it's ever so slightly still damp. I end up with an incredibly silky mane.

Question: I want to learn how to do marcelled finger waves! I can do pincurls, but those still escape me.

I have hair care tips to share. I've got really curly frizzy hair, that's prone to split ends. A few important steps I take helps to keep my hair under control. I never wash my hair every day, as it tends to make it frizzier and harder to control. I always use conditioner, one with protein in it to protect it from heat damage. And I apply an anti-frizz serum to the ends of my hair before styling. It's just a few simple steps that always ensures my hair looks its best.

The only question I can think of to ask is if there's such a thing as a moisturizing shampoo (one that will help with frizz), but one that will also help my naturally oily hair?

how can I get waves in my hair without crimping the endS?

Rona! ( Pleaseeee pick me) said...

Tip: I use thermal protecting spray when my hair is damp after shampooing/conditioning. Then I put a protecting defrizzing serum that also makes my hair shiny before I blowdry so it doesn't damage from the heat. After blowdrying, I straighten it. And when I'm done straightening, I finger-comb in some of my protecting defrizzing serum.

Question: I usually straighten my hair at night, and when I wake up it looks super frizzy and i have to go over it with my flat iron again. How can I prevent this?? I've always wanted to know.

The best and easiest way to ultra-healthy hair?

Don't wash it every day. Wash it twice a week. Three times a week if extra oily.

Your hair doesn't need a shampoo every day. Ask ANY stylist and they will agree. Your natural oils and moisture your hair has is the best thing for it and it will become shiny, strong and healthy by NOT washing it every single day (you're only stripping it of all the moisture and oils by doing that!)

If your hair gets oily in two days, use hair-powder to soak it up. Not only does this add amazing body and managability, but it smells amazing!

Try it for a month or two, you will not be sorry!

I have coarse/wavy hair that always ends up looking frizzy. What is your advice for sleek, well-defined waves?

I have really super long thick layered hair. If I know I wont have time to do my hair for a night out....I will keep my wet hair up in a bun all day at work. And it will have lovely soft waves when I take it down to go out and not be frizzy!

Hi! I was wondering what type of hair products I should use in my hair. I have naturally curly hair and I love to straighten it but the products I use are either too heavy or doesn't have enough moisturizer. What would be a good moisturizer? I need help finding one that's good for curly hair and good for when straightening it! Thanks a bunch!

I like to spray each section with bumble & bumble "does it all" before straightening, then promptly wrap the hot strand in a large velcro curler to give my hair lots of body!

I have fine very straight hair but love the look you can achieve with the flat irons that reminds me of 40s Hollywood glamour waves. What's the best way to make this look last all night?

To curl hair and have it look like natural waves, leave the iron clamped and wrap pieces of hair around the barrel. It looks so much better!

After a couple of days of using a straightener, it always appears damaged or frizzy if I don't straighten again... continuing the cycle of damaging hair!

My hair is super straight/fine and I can't get it to hold a curl at all! I'll curl it and it will look great for about 10 minutes before all the curls straighten out. What would you suggest for getting curls and waves to hold all day for fine/straight hair?

ala3of7 said...

To prevent damage from styling tools, make sure to use a heat protectant spray. And to tame frizz on the go, I use a small amount of hand lotion on the ends.

My hair is super thick and I shed like a shetland sheep dog & i've never really tried using an iron like this one before. My question is how to do you keep your hair safe when you use heated styling products such as these? and when you do use them do you section off your hair and do it in small parts??

Thanks :)

My hair is not straight and not wavy. I blow dry my hair straight and try to style it with a curling iron, but the curls never stay. By the time I finish curling all my hair, the curls are out on the first part of hair that I curled. Is there a product or technique I can use to keep the curls in? Help please!

What's the best way to keep the ends of your hair from getting too dry?

Alli S said...

I have supercurly hair that's been dyed a few times, so if I know I'm going to straighten my hair, I don't put any product in after I wash it. This keeps from gluing my hair together with the heat, and from breaking off if it snags. Also, putting it in after helps smooth my frizzies.
