If you live close by these stores, you must stop by during their grand opening weekends. To celebrate, the first 100 clients to sit for a complimentary 20-minute service (with 12 different ones to choose from) will walk away with a FREE Rouge Artist Lipstick in #43, fall's perfect shade of red.

The studios are also very interactive, featuring iPads throughout the store that play how-to videos, as well as link to social networking sites for clients to easily update.

There are also Eye Shadow Stations (see the long communal table in the picture at the left) designed for clients to sit and play. Whether they want to try out new colors or customize their own personalized shadow palette, this is the perfect place.

Beauty in the News: We All Scream...

…for anti-aging ice cream! Attention: Cookie Dough fans, have I got some news for you! Unilever together with Ampere Life Science recently announced a scientific exploration to develop a range of anti-aging products that may extend into the edible category. The research will focus on the use of antioxidants—I don’t need to tell you savvy Sephora gals how much those fight wrinkles and slackening skin. The companies predict the process will take about five years and hope to infuse favorite ice cream flavors with the powerful-patented anti-agers. With news like this, break-up binge eating is going to be more of a revenge… –Jenna Mahoney

Get the Look: Anastasia Eye Shadow

When I first discovered Anastasia’s eye shadows that are formulated to act like skincare, I was ecstatic. Color for my eyes that leaves my skin firm, smooth and hydrated? It was just the wake-up call my tired eyes needed.

Now everyone’s favorite brow and eye expert introduces a new palette of colors that are perfect for fall: Illumin8 with Youthful Synergy™ Complex Eye Shadow Palette #3. This sophisticated palette features cool colors with complementary pops of blue and purple. The long-wearing formula lasts all day and a quick addition of a shimmery smoldering black takes you effortlessly into night.

One of the things I love most about Anastasia is how dedicated she is to making sure her eye
shadows are easy for the every day woman to apply. I hit the snooze button in the morning, so I don’t have a lot of time to spend on my makeup. I followed Anastasia’s simple instructions for Palette #3, however, and when I finished, it actually looked like my makeup was done by a professional. The palette comes with a Mini Professional Brush which really helps with easy application. One side is designed for applying color over the lid or brow bone, while the other side is ideal for applying shades wet or dry as a liner or to the crease.

Here’s how you can get this look:

For day:
1. Apply Shade #1 from lash line to brow bone.
2. Apply Shade #4 into the crease
3. Then apply Shade #2 to your lid.
4. Apply Shade #3 to the outer center of the eye.
5. Then apply Shade #5 (as liner) to your upper and lower lash line.

Continue for a glamorous evening look:

6. On the outer corner, lightly add Shade #4 and blend out.
7. Reapply Shade #5 with a damp brush to intensify.
8. Always finish with Lash Lifting Mascara to complete your look.

Tried & Tested: Living Proof Root Lifting Spray

My hair is short and fine, so it can really look drab if it’s lacking volume. I’ve always been amazed by my hair stylist’s ability to make it look full and bouncy, and have been trying to imitate her styling for years to no avail. Desperate for something that will give it oomph and really give it life, I’ve been trying every styling product that I can get my hands on without any notable results.

Living Proof has finally come to my rescue with their brand new Full Root Lifting Spray. I always thought of Living Proof as the go-to brand for people needing serious frizz-control, but hadn’t had the opportunity to try their new Full line of products until this week. The Root Lifting Spray is fantastic. You spray your roots when your hair is still wet (best after a quick towel-dry), comb through strands, and then style using a blow dry. I sprayed about five or six pumps, but I don’t have a ton of hair, so note that they recommend up to 10 pumps for those with more hair.

Within just a few minutes of blow-drying my hair, I noticed that it was already more full on top. When I finished drying it, I didn’t even need pomade to style. The spray gave it a sandy texture and acting as a holding spray. You can even use it as a finishing spray by spraying lightly onto dry, styled hair. A multipurpose spray that gives me the kind of volume I can only get after a salon visit? I’m sold.

TEMPTU: The Poem

Yes, we know, you've heard us rave about TEMPTU over and over again. But that AIRbrush Makeup System really is a wonder product. Just ask Adina, the KraseyBeauty blogger who just penned and posted a poem she wrote, wholly dedicated to the topselling tool. "I am convinced, the Temptu AIRbrush is a pretty wonderful thing," she says on her blog. "In fact, I love my system so much that I wrote it a little poem.

"From flawed to flawless
Errant to even
Temptu yields results everyone I believe in
With the pop of a cartridge
And a stylus to spray
My foundation will never be led astray
My complexion does sparkle
With vibrancy and glee
Perfection is possible
That’s easy to see"

NEW NUDE Serum—One for me, 50 for you!

The change of season is the perfect time to analyze your skincare routine. After being exposed to the harsh elements of the summer (sun, chlorine, wind), everyone's skin deserves to be repaired, recharged and restored. Personally, I'm going to add an extra step to my routine in the morning and at night with a powerhouse serum. NUDE Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum is packed with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and probiotic technology to help smooth out fine lines, hydrate parched patches and stimulate skin cell renewal for a healthy glow—exactly what I am looking for.

Since I'm hopping on the NUDE skincare bandwagon, the brand agreed we should bring some blog readers along with me for the ride. So, they are giving away 50 deluxe-size samples of their Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum for you to try too.

Just write in the comments section any question you might have for the scientists at NUDE. (For instance, why do they use certain ingredients? What's the importance of probiotics?) The top 25 questions will get answered by their pros and two deluxe samples of the serum. Don't forget to include your e-mail address so we can contact you.

Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl

Every girl needs a set of pearls, and this luminizing liquid highlighter is the perfect new accessory. Girl Meets Pearl contains light-reflecting pigments that give your skin a sparkling radiance, like liquid pearls for your face. In addition to creating a shimmering glow, the golden-pink formula firms and smoothes skin with sweet almond seed, while soothing it with a mixture of raspberry and chamomile. For a sweet finish, the moisturizing formula smells of fresh, sweet red raspberries.

“We like to think of Girl Meets Pearl as the new classic accessory from Benefit: Timeless like a strand of pearls, a glow never goes out of style. The perfect accessory for every fashionista, it gives you multiple options to ‘fancy up’ with luminosity, either alone, mixed with foundation, or as a highlighter.”—the Benefit ladies

Thanks for the complexion gems, Benefit!

A Good Rub Down

There are few things on this green earth that I enjoy as much as a great massage. Yes, I love it more than chocolate. And I know it sounds cheesy, but I totally slip into bliss when I’m being rubbed down in a low-lit room with pretty scents and warmed oils. Since I love massages so much, I also look for excuses as to why a normal person such as myself should imbibe as often as I’d like in a little indulgence. Now, thanks to a new study by the smarties at UCLA’s Medical School, I don’t need to make up any reasons. They found that in addition to feel-good effects of getting a good Swedish massage, immune function may also be boosted. As if I needed any more fuel for my fire—the scientists also concluded that a 60-minute session can also help you look slimmer. So if you don’t hear from me in the next few days, I’ll be in the salon. –Jenna Mahoney

Tried + Tested: Alterna Anti-Aging Caviar Moisture Shampoo + Set

Don't let the name throw you off. You don't have to confess to having aged (or even the euphemistic "mature") hair to reap the soft and silky benefits of Alterna's Anti-Aging Caviar Moisture Shampoo.

My hair is a great barometer for testing moisturizing shampoos for reasons I'll detail below, and so far, it's loving this shampoo and the entire Alterna family.

Over the years and one too many pyramid-shaped bobs, I've learned my tresses have their own personality: non-committal being that it's not quite wavy, not quite straight.
I don't have the lustrous locks that so many Asian girls have. No, my hair has to be difficult, brittle, and stiff. With the right hydrating products, I can coax out a few timid waves. That's usually how I test my shampoos, and that's how I know Alterna works! After just half a week, my layers look defined and slightly wavy and there's actually separation, movement, and bounce.

The hands-down winning combination of the Alterna line is that it's both healthy and luxurious. The shampoo is free of sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, and to showcase how the collection is ahead of the curve, it's also gluten-free. My many experiences with sulfate-free shampoos have been that while non-irritating to your scalp and to your skin, they often smell medicinal, herbal, and/or earthy. You also have to sacrifice the experience of frothy, sudsy action. Neither is the case with Alterna. It smells powdery and clean, and leaves your hair lightly scented. Also, it has a creamy consistency and when emulsified actually yields bubbles for good, clean shower fun.

As this brand just launched at Sephora, a full Alterna experience is available right now as a fun set for people new to the collection. It includes the aforementioned shampoo, a conditioner, hairspray, and overnight treatment.

I've gathered my testing notes here.
The conditioner: It's ultra-hydrating and I would even say as emollient as many hair masks on the market.
The mini hairspray: It's much less drying than your average drugstore travel-size variety.
The overnight treatment:
It's cool, slick, and quick-absorbing, and it leaves hair soft and shiny the next morning.
Yours truly: Still too vain to admit I have elderly hair, but I am loving anti-aging haircare.

Tried + Tested: Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Mascara

Laura Mercier's Full Blown Volume Mascara has singlehandedly revived my hope of achieving the lashes of my dreams. Having not received many credits in this department, meaning I have the puniest lashes in our office, I ought to be amplifying every precious strand, right?

Um, that would be a no.
I've sworn off mascara. Almost all of them have let me down. With most thickening varieties, I end up with stiff, clumpy lashes that stick straight out and a midday shadow below my eyes. I have just accepted my sorry state - hoping that a generous use of liner could compensate for my dimuniuitive lashes.

So, I was beyond surprised when I tried Laura Mercier's new formula. It is truly eye-opening. Designed for the spider-lash averse, it's gel-like consistency gives you a glossy coat that's the blackest of black. And, the mica and natural cotton fiber impart a glistening, three-dimensional look.

As thickening mascaras go, the first coat is not very bold or dramatic. But, that is intentional since it's a buildable formula. After two coats, my rigor-mortis, stick-straight lashes actually manage to curl...a little. And, I found them soft, bouncy and shiny most likely due to this product's fancy haircare ingredients, Provitamin B5 and olive oil.

Also noteworthy, the stuff stays on - even holding superbly in humid 90 degree weather. Wearing this mascara on a daily basis has given me a few unexpected fringe benefits. It brightens the whites of my eyes, making me look more awake and my brown eyes twinkle. I've always wished I could flirt with my eyes as opposed to just staring or worst glaring - and now I can!

Why Do You Wear Makeup?

By now, you’ve probably read about a recent poll that’s been circulating around the internet, which stated that men don’t really notice when we ladies sport stilettos. There were various questions that followed each piece. Why don’t men register a pair of hot heels? Why are women breaking themselves—literally—to get into a pair of sky-high strappy sandals? And what do women do to our appearance that men care about? So, as is common with my posts here, I got to thinking about the concept of beauty and more specifically, boys and girls and beauty. If men don’t notice heels, then do they see intricate updos, black nail polish and glittered lids? And if they do, do we put on our makeup for them? Or do you do it for yourself? Or maybe it’s your mom, your sister or your boss that encourages you to beauty-it-up. Personally, I’ll swipe on some gloss when I’m feeling like I need a little oomph. And a full-face for me means I’m ready for an important event—from big meetings to weddings. But I put on makeup because it makes me just a little more pretty. My sister is the kind of girl who never leaves the house without a full-face. She says being made up gives her more confidence. Tell me, why and who do you wear makeup for? Swak –Jenna Mahoney

FASHION WEEK: LancĂ´me for L'Wren Scott

SHOW: L'Wren Scott
MAKEUP: Aaron De Mey for LancĂ´me
MODEL: Olga, Ajak Deng
HIGHLIGHTS: Vibrant eyes paired with a pale, glossy lip

IN THEIR WORDS: Colorful Serengeti sunsets inspired both the clothes and the makeup at L’Wren Scott. Specifically for the show, LancĂ´me Artistic Director for Makeup Aaron De Mey created a colorful palette of paprika, chartreuse, sapphire and aubergine eye shadows—each shade custom blended to perfectly complement each model’s outfit.

Aaron began by applying either a matte taupe or black eye shadow to lids, depending on whether he’d be layering a light color (such as green or gold) or dark color (red, blue or purple) over it. He then covered the lid, inner corner and lower lash line with the vivid, custom-blended shadow shade. To prevent the look from becoming “too juvenile,” he lined the water line with intense black liner, and then applied several coats of mascara. To balance out the bright eyes, Aaron kept lips simple, using only a beige lipstick and gold-flecked gloss.

GET IT: The eye shadows featured in the show were custom blends created specifically for each model, but a similar look can be achieved using LancĂ´me Color Design Eye Shadow in Waif and Designer, or The New Black and Backstage Pass. Aaron lined eyes with LancĂ´me Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony and applied LancĂ´me HypnĂ´se Drama Mascara in Excessive Black to lashes. He colored lips with LancĂ´me Color Design Lipstick in Oh My, and finished with a coat of LancĂ´me Juicy Tubes in Touched By Light.

FASHION'S NIGHT OUT: TEMPTU and Kat Von D at Sephora 5 Times Square

In case you missed it, here's what went down at Sephora 5 Times Square during Fashion's Night Out ...

TEMPTU took over the store! They had live models in our windows wearing looks they created for the runway and artists airbrushing clients' complexions and applying temporary tattoos. After clients had their makeup done with the TEMPTU Airbrush Makeup System, a professional photographer took their picture for lookbookbeauty.com. Check out the site to see the amazingly natural finish on real women (and men!). And if that wasn't enough excitement for one store, our favorite tattoo artist and brand founder, Kat Von D showed up to sign autographs and got the finishing touches of her makeup applied by TEMPTU's JP McCary. Kat is a fan of the TEMPTU Highlighter in Champagne. Check out the video below that recapped the magic of the night.

Quick: You Can Only Pick One Product

In the New York Fashion week post-mortem there’s been a lot of agreeing—everyone wants every.single.piece of Marc Collection, LAMB was a super fun way to end the week!—and disagreeing—is that pint-sized blogger is a phenom. v please, call me when she experiences Paris. There have also been a few questionable matter-of-facts, including a mystery twitter feed and the rumor that piling on the beauty products is a thing of seasons past. In fact, as the girls at Allure recently reported, it seems that lipstick is getting its big day as a double- triple and even quad-duty on faces moving forward. Now, I’ll readily admit that I mix-and-match product all over my face. A super-light toned concealer has become my shadow lightner, prep-step and corner brightener. I often use a highlighting stick on cheeks and brow bones and if you’ve ever read this blog in the past two years, you know that I’m obsessed with the multitasking properties of Rosebud Salve. Part of what I love about the experimenting with different products on different areas stems to my interest in finger blending and seamless complexion coverage. But I wonder, if I had to do it up for a big event, interview or meeting with the in-laws would I really be able to rely on a single product to do it? What do you think? Could you survive—and do an entire face—with a single beauty tool. And what would that little bit of magic be? Post pics too! That would be so much fun! Swak –Jenna Mahoney

Fashion's Night Out: YSL & Alexandra Richards at Sephora Times Square

My Fashion's Night Out was definitely one to remember. My second stop of the night was at Sephora Times Square, which was a party nobody should have missed! Celebrity DJ Alexandra Richards spun tunes, Yves Saint Laurent makeup artists transformed clients into red-hot beauties and Yves Saint Laurent gave away not one but two pairs of YSL Tribute Too Red suede shoes. After Alexandra finished her set, we had a few minutes to talk beauty.

SEPHORA: What is your beauty must have?
AR: I'd have to say lip gloss. Because it's moisturizing, it's perfect and it always looks nice. I don't need any other makeup—just gloss and that's it.

SEPHORA: What do you love about the brand YSL?
AR: I love that my sister-in-law, Lucie de la Falaise, used to actually model for Yves Saint Laurent when she was really young, so it's a brand that has always been dear to my family.

SEPHORA: You've modeled, you DJ ... what, if any, other profession would you want to dabble into?
AR: I would love to design jewelry. I took some classes at School of Visual Arts and I am certified in silver and now have to go back for gold. So I'm working on some designs.

SEPHORA: I can't wait to see a collection.
AR: Hopefully!

SEPHORA: Any beauty rituals that you can share with us?
AR: I wash my face before I go to sleep and I brush my teeth in the morning. I am pretty simple. I use the YSL Flash Touch pen which leaves you radiant.

SEPHORA: What are your plans during fashion week?
AR: I am doing Jill Stuart's show. I have never DJ'ed a runway show before, so that will be interesting.

SEPHORA: How would you describe your DJ sound?
AR: My friend who books me for gigs gets so annoyed because I'm kinda everywhere. I am all over the place, because I have so many genres of music that I really like, but I like to say rock. That's where I go—I love my base and my rock.

SEPHORA: Where is your favorite place that you've DJ'ed?
AR: It will be Paris just because I've never DJ'ed there and during Paris Fashion Week I will be over there. But New York. I've got to say, I love New York. New York is my favorite place.

Bobbi Brown's Big Debut at Sephora

Major coup for busy women everywhere: Bobbi Brown, the queen of simple glamour is now available on sephora.com and coming to select Sephora stores in November. We've always admired her balanced approach to getting gorgeous, and now we have the chance to cover all the in's and out's of one of our favorite beauty role models. Bobbi not only designs chicly confident makeup, but she is also an amazing human being: she's CEO of her own company and committed to empowering women everywhere from her books on embracing natural beauty to serving as a board member of Dress for Success. Read on for her enlightened approach to beauty.

B&TB: What are the best ways for a Bobbi Brown newbie to get to know your collection?
Bobbi Brown: I suggest starting with the basics. My philosophy is about enhancing a woman’s beauty not covering it up. Try a skintone correcting foundation with coordinating concealer to make your face even and create a perfect base. For color, try a blush that looks like your cheeks would after you’ve exercised and then maybe a lip color that is the color of your lips making them look polished.

B&TB: You started your company in 1991. What major changes have you seen since then in the beauty world?
BB: There is so much more air brushing! I hate that young girls today have to grow up surrounded by unrealistic expectations of beauty. However, I see us leaving the celeb and model culture and going back to the basics, celebrating women’s natural beauty, which is something I have always done and never strayed from.

B&TB: What do you love about working with clients?
BB: That everyone is different and beautiful in their own way. Some people may dislike a certain feature they have and that same feature is what I will love the most about them.

B&TB: What do you recommend every woman should have in her beauty arsenal?
BB: Concealer! It’s the secret to the universe. It instantly brightens your eyes, making you look more refreshed.

B&TB: What are your favorite looks for fall?
BB: I always like a smoky eye or a strong lip. For eyes, you can use plums and charcoals, which are big this season, and go for a berry or even red lip. If you’re going to try one of these looks, pair a dark eye with a neutral lip or a neutral eye with a dark lip. Don’t do both or it will be too much.

B&TB: You're a published author many times over. What's the favorite word in your beauty vocabulary?
BB: Simple. Makeup should not be complicated. It’s about having fun and keeping it simple!

B&TB: What’s your definition of beauty?
BB: I think the most beautiful women are those who accept who they are and exude confidence.

B&TB: What inspires you?
BB: I can find inspiration in everything from the countries I visit to the women I meet on the street. I’ve been inspired by prints I see on the runways, books I’ve read, art and even my children.

B&TB: What do you want to be doing 10 years from now?
BB: Helping women feel more confident about themselves is something I will always do, so I’d love to work as an ambassador for young women with a focus on mentoring and empowering them.

B&TB: When should you stick to a tried-a-true look and when should you experiment with makeup?
BB: A tried-and-true look is always appropriate for daytime whether you are at school or work. Experimenting is great for an evening look or special occasions.

FASHION WEEK: Shiseido for Narciso Rodriguez

SHOW:
Narciso Rodriguez

MAKEUP: Dick Page for Shiseido

MODEL: Katie Fogarty for Next, Lisanne de Jong for Elite, Mirte Maas for Women

HIGHLIGHTS: Matte skin with a rose-colored eye

IN THEIR WORDS: Narciso Rodriguez described his Spring 2011 collection as "fresh, easy and pretty." And Dick Page followed suit featuring matte skin and mauve lids on the models. When asked how he arrived at the color on the lids, Dick said, "I just played around with brown and beige concealers." Dick created this warm eye with creamy formulas from his kit. "I used a little windshield wiper-like action to apply, with a dust of mauve blush on top."

Since the look was all about the eyes, the girls' makeup was kept clean with no mascara, nothing on the cheek and just a dab of muted pink mauve lipstick blotted on lips.

OVERHEARD BACKSTAGE: "When the heels are really, really high you just walk on your tip toes," said model Katie Fogarty.

GET IT: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in Tearose and Petal, Shiseido Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte in Whisper.

FASHION WEEK: LancĂ´me for Chris Benz

SHOW: Chris Benz

MAKEUP: Daniel Martin for LancĂ´me (Michelle Phan was also backstage doing makeup!)

MODELS: Sarah Dumont for Vision Los Angeles, Marie for Wilhelmina

HIGHLIGHTS: Designer Chris Benz's collection evoked the American girl in Paris, circa 1960's. Both Chris and Daniel were inspired by French pop singer Frances Gall, who always did something interesting with makeup on her eyes.

IN THEIR WORDS: "We took the influence of Frances Gall and made the look more modern by using a white pencil all over the eye, playing it down with a pale pink and then, with a liquid liner, engulfed the upper lash line and dotted the lower lash line for a cool effect," explained Daniel. "From a distance it looks like a fuller lash. Once you get up close it looks a little more interesting." The cheeks were sculpted with a mauve blush and lips were finished with a pale pink.

OVERHEARD BACKSTAGE: Skin was kept "medium bodied—not too dewy or matte," said Daniel.

FASHION WEEK: NARS for Thakoon

SHOW: Thakoon

MAKEUP: Diane Kendal for NARS

MODEL: Hanne Bruning for DNA, Sophie for IMG, Melissa for NY Models

HIGHLIGHTS: Golden luminosity

IN THEIR WORDS: "Golden, but not tanned. As if the girls are glowing from within ... with, of course, confidence," said Diane Kendal. "There is definition in the face without having any hard lines. No mascara, just curled lashes if they need it. The gold goes on top of the cheekbone and over the eye brow for a pop of color."

OVERHEARD BACKSTAGE: "The clothes are very structured, but at the same time they are in flowy fabrics, which is a real contrast," explained Diane.

"The clothes are light so I wanted the makeup to have a little more impact this time—as if the girls were beautiful, cool fairies," said designer Thakoon. "I wanted the whole aura to feel like opening windows and letting in a breeze. Fresh and romantic, but tempered at the same time."

FASHION WEEK: Shiseido for Marc by Marc Jacobs

SHOW: Marc by Marc Jacobs

MAKEUP: Dick Page for Shiseido

MODELS: Kristina Romanova for Leeman

HIGHLIGHTS: Matte skin, diffused eye makeup with sketch-like definition, and a bright orange lip--matted down.

IN THEIR WORDS: A show of Marc Jacobs' caliber required strategic makeup. "With the big huge lights out there, it's going to blow out the skin, so we're keeping the skin matte," explains Dick Page. "For the eyes, I used a lip balm to help melt everything together. You can also use a moisturizer or a wet Q-Tip, too. Then, if you're going to have that iridescence around the eye, you need matte lips and skin. I'm using an orange powder pigment to mattify the lips."

OVERHEARD BACKSTAGE: "When it comes to an inspiration, Dick doesn't follow trends. It's all about what looks good with the clothes," we overheard backstage. It was obvious that orange was what looked best with the collection. "I love flat, matte orange," he admitted.

GET IT: After applying foundation, set it with Shieseido's Translucent Loose Powder to mattify the skin. Dab some lip balm on your lids for a slightly slick base, then apply Shiseido Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in Black using sketch-like motions to create imperfect definition. Add another wash of lip balm to help the color melt into the eyes. Skip the mascara. On the lips, apply Shieseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Day Lily. Dick used a orange loose powder pigment on top. Add a complimentary pop of color using a orange-toned blush.
