HIGHLIGHTS: Taking a cue from abstract expressionism, bold strokes of graphic liner breathe new life into the classic cat eye, while gleaming lips and cheeks are a study in nude.

Inspired by the spontaneous structure of abstract paintings from the 1940s—and a particularly striking black-and-white photo of Michelle Pfeiffer—Maulawizada designed an exaggerated cat eye, suspended at the corners. "I love Michelle's graphic eye liner in this old magazine editorial," he shared. "I modernized it a bit by drawing from Art Nouveau and tracing distinct lines that never connect, but work together to create something new."

To keep the look "silky and shimmering," Maulawizada began with a dewy base of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, then flushed Second Skin Cheek Colour in Rose Petal from the Bonne Mine Créme Colour Palette over cheeks. For eyes, he swept Sequin Eye Colour in Twinkling Star, a gilded rosé shadow, all over lids to create a glowing canvas for artfully-brushed Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony. Straying just a touch from the lash line, Maulawizada traced eye liner above and below the eye with an angled brush, making sure to extend the line beyond the inner and outer corners. He re-traced his steps three-to-four times, brushed on Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara and finished with a little sparkle: glossy, nude lips and a lightly dusting of Sequin Eye Colour in Twinkling Star atop cheek and temples for a "fallen glitter" effect.
