You've Got Nail!
Sephora by OPI launched yesterday, and I, intrepid tip-ster (and terrible nail painter), am testing out one of the new and exclusive polish shades per day. Does that make me a nail-order bride? Well, no. But, it does make it OK for me to crack un-funny jokes playing off words that rhyme with nail. So bear with me, and my forthcoming Zoolander jokes (male model...nail model).
Anyway, yesterday we gave you a glimpse of Metro Chic, the editor-fave, skyscraper shade that's an on-trend blend of gray, violet and khaki. Today, we bring you my second favorite polish shade, called Run with It!. It's also gray, but in a lighter, sprightlier shade of dove, infused with microscopic sparkles for a finish that comes off solid, yet very reflective.
At first, I was afraid it would prove to be a "death gray;" you know, that shade of gray that zaps all signs of life from your skin tone. In fact, it's the exact opposite. I have medium skin with yellow-undertones, the coolness and lightness of this color makes my skin look tanner (same goes for darker skin tones). Conversely, it will work well on lighter skin tones, as a pretty alternative to fall's darker grays.
I shot my nails below at 3 different vantage points, so you can get an idea of it's finish and tones in different lighting situations.
And, check back on Monday for my next review...Sephora by OPI Nail Polish in Never Enough Shoes.

Sephora by OPI Nail Polish: The hottest nail trends, on your fingertips
BREAKING BEAUTY NEWS! Nail polish powerhouse OPI has teamed up with Sephora to create Sephora By OPI, an extensive line of 54 fashion-forward shades for $9 each.
The new and exclusive line will have you covered with all your nail essentials: base coat, top coat, nail color drying drops, remover, and of course, the most on-trend colors in the industry. Plus, the long-lasting, chip-resistant polishes are free of DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde. Sephora by OPI Nail Polish will be available at Sephora in early August (and on Sephora.com in late July - blogger Jennifer "Product Patrol" Appenrodt will keep you posted).
The exclusive line was introduced today at an editor breakfast at Sephora 5th Avenue, where editors were offered manicures with the 6 fall trend colors (pictured above from left: Don't Go There, Meet For Drinks, I'm With Brad, Never Enough Shoes, Metro Chic and Run With It). The most popular polish choice was definitely Metro Chic, the skyscraper gray shade pictured on my fingertips, below. We're calling this moody, purple gray khaki-ish shade to be one of fall's hottest tip trends.
Speaking of tips, for the month(ish) before Sephora by OPI Nail Polish is available yours truly will be modeling one polish per day to offer a preview of most of the shades. I'm kicking it off below with editor-favorite Sephora by OPI in Metro Chic (and apologizing in advance for my lack of polishing skills).
Let the manicure madness begin...

Now Entering: The Blue Period
I like to think that I'm a pretty happenin' chic-e-la. I pride myself on knowing the up-to-the-second-Perez-style status of all Hollywood baby bumps and sexuality scandals. And I think that I'm pretty on top of emerging markets, complex theories of so-called trickledown economics and the impending gasoline crisis in EspaƱa, but for the life of me I simply can't keep up with the latest trends in nail polish colors.
Just as I was about to take a walk on the bright side, the fashion-forward stylies at Fashionista had to go and ruin my coming out party. These chippies have been spotting blue lacquer on trend setting ladies around NYC's most coolio neighborhoods.
Now please don't get all der-hickey Jenna, navy was the story last fall on me. Because there's a rub—the shade is more Robin Red-breast egg shell than all saturated, inky, deep-ocean (try Hard Candy Vintage Nail Polish in Frigid or Sephora Brand Lacquer Nail Polish in Blue Curacoa). So, I guess the question is: Should I skip the tropical punch at head right for the next emerging trend? And, thanks. -Jenna Mahoney

CHiPs: The Nail Edition.
Someone call the nail police!
The New York Times broke the anti manicure story yesterday.
It seems that those Hollywood hellcats that have influenced such trends as the deliberate bed head and "I may look a mess but check out my killer shoes and bag" have also given rise to the—gasp—chipped nails. (But I'm voting for the hipsters inventing it. God knows those 'Burgers love the irony)
Yep, it seems that wearing super dark and artfully chipped polish is socially acceptable these days. Cue CoCo and the fastidious great aunts rolling in their graves. And while the "Gee, I wish I was always so pulled together" part of me is slightly in shock, my true self, the messy Jessie in me says: "I'm in hog heaven." - Jenna Mahoney

Tried +Tested: Sephora Brand Nail Patch
Calling all Virgos, perfectionists and chicies with little to zero time. Have we got a phenom. for you. The brand-spanking new Sephora Brand Nail Patch ($10) promise long-wear, chip-less color with zero drying time. And in the words of those crazy kids at Seattle Grace—seriously. The peel and stick lacquered pieces deliver non-streaky, super-even and fantastic, stay-put color. And we're not talking of the 80s press-on nail variety. These strips actually adhere to the nail a-la polish, but sans the wetness, smudginess and waiting time of the traditional method. I tried the pink, which pack some serious She-Ra Color. And after a week of wear, they look almost as fresh as the first day, which is an extra-special plus if, like me, you spend oh, um 18 hours a day typing. And since the patches require nail polish remover to disappear, I'm totally going to be feeling all Princess of Power for a few more days. - Jenna Mahoney

Fingered! The Fluorescent Manicure

Time for your next mani? Ask for neon.
According to trendcentral, retina-searing shades were spotted on every hipster fingernail at Coachella last weekend. For the unfamiliar, this desert-scene indie music fest is a veritable hotbed (Oh ha! Ladies & germs, I’m here all week!) of new trends.
Brilliantly lame jokes aside, I've been waiting since Thriller came out the first time for neon to come back - along with, apparently, 2 out of 3 Glamour staffers.
I say, break out your “Electric Youth” mix tape and grab a bottle of your favorite BRITE LITE:
Sephora Brand Nail Polish in Orange #60 or Turquoise Blue #55
Sephora Lacquer Nail Polish in Myrtille (a bright, deep blue) or Mangue (vibrant orange)
BONUS ROUND: Are you brave? Then pair up you fingers with Make Up Forever Lipstick in Fluorescent Orange Pink.
ICKY sidenote: Fluorescents weren’t the only thing spotted at Coachella. I regretfully inform readers that fanny packs (please forgive me for typing that, Karl Lagerfeld) also made what I hope is a first and final appearance.
